Sanitation Lead
Job Description

The Sanitation Lead is responsible for coordinating the assignments and duties of Sanitarians in a specified area of production, such as High Care, Ready Meals, or Savory. This role involves providing training and coaching to team members, inspecting equipment for quality of cleaning, and reporting performance concerns to management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the onboarding and orientation of employees by providing continual coaching.
  • Train and educate sanitation personnel in safety practices, GMPs, test methods, and procedures related to sanitation.
  • Review daily sanitation reports and ensure corrective and preventive actions are taken timely to address poor sanitation practices.
  • Coordinate assignment of duties with team members and train them on the proper use of personal protective equipment, SDS information, and appropriate cleaning and sanitation of equipment.
  • Observe strict sanitation specifications and procedures of team members.
  • Interact effectively with Sanitation Department Leads to address areas of potential food safety or quality issues.
  • Support the identification of root causes and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Enforce safety within the department through constant observation and coaching of team members.
  • Interact with production supervisors of previous and next shifts to ensure smooth continuity and transition of tasks/responsibilities.
  • Ensure that sanitation activities are completed on time in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Enforce and promote workplace safety procedures with all team members and exemplify safe work practices and behavior.
  • Coordinate and conduct weekly safety training with team members following the published training schedule and complete all required training records.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and tools in the facility while observing all sanitation and safety precautions.
  • Perform only job functions for which you have been trained and fully understand.
  • Adhere to company attendance policies and be punctual. Overtime and weekend work will be required based on business needs.
  • May perform other duties as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in sanitizing, quality assurance, food safety, sanitation, cleaning, test methods, and CAPA.
  • Flawless execution and accountability.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum high school education required, but a one-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to function under highly stressful conditions.
  • Bilingual proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking) is advantageous.
Work Environment

The employee will work in an environment with temperatures ranging from sub-0 to 85F. This position is for the 3rd Shift from 8 PM to 4:30 AM, including weekend work, with no more than 40 hours a week.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carson, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.25 - $24.25/hr.
