Hiring Quality Control Inspector All Shift Available $22-32 (BOE) Job Description The Quality Control Inspector ensures that all welded and fabricated steel components meet internal quality standards, industry codes, and customer specifications. This role performs hands-on inspections, verifies measurements, documents findings, and collaborates closely with welders, fabricators, and supervisors across multiple shifts to maintain consistent product quality. Responsibilities Perform detailed weld inspections to identify defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, and other discontinuities using visual inspection and basic non-destructive testing tools. Verify proper fit-up of components to ensure they align, seat, and assemble correctly before and after welding. Conduct dimensional checks on components using calipers, tape measures, squares, gauges, and other precision measurement tools to confirm compliance with fabrication drawings and specifications. Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and technical specifications to guide inspection activities. Document inspection results accurately in quality control logs or digital systems, including recording nonconformances and associated corrective actions. Report quality issues promptly and clearly to welders, supervisors, and engineers to support timely resolution of quality concerns. Monitor fabrication and welding processes through periodic process audits to ensure adherence to established procedures and quality standards. Follow all OSHA and facility safety guidelines during inspections and daily work activities to maintain a safe working environment. Essential Skills Hands-on experience performing inspection and quality control activities in a fabrication or welding environment. Strong visual inspection skills with the ability to identify common weld defects and discontinuities. Working knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices in a production setting. Solid understanding of common welding processes, including SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols. Proficiency using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, squares, gauges, and other inspection instruments. Ability to clearly communicate inspection findings and quality concerns to production and supervisory staff. Commitment to following safety procedures and standards at all times.
