Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician ensures that products consistently meet internal standards and customer requirements by performing comprehensive inspections, dimensional analysis, and quality control activities throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports APQP and PPAP requirements, manages nonconforming materials, coordinates supplier quality documentation, and maintains ISO-related documentation to uphold a robust quality management system. Responsibilities Perform inspections at incoming, in-process, final, and safe launch stages to ensure products meet defined quality requirements. Ensure all inspection activities comply with APQP and PPAP requirements and support successful program launches. Conduct dimensional measurements and analysis to support Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs) and PPAP submissions. Identify, segregate, and manage nonconforming materials through effective containment activities. Drive root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective actions, verifying their effectiveness over time. Perform internal ISO and process audits to verify adherence to documented procedures and standards. Maintain, update, and organize ISO documentation to support audit readiness and continuous improvement. Review and support supplier quality submissions, including PPAPs, ISIRs, deviations, and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supplier-related quality issues and improve incoming material quality. Identify, select, and help acquire appropriate inspection tools and gauges required during PPAP and ongoing production. Use measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and microscopes to verify product dimensions and characteristics. Support calibration and proper use of measurement equipment to ensure accurate and reliable inspection results. Essential Skills At least 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with gauges, micrometers, and calipers for dimensional inspection. Knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operation and CMM-based inspection. Working knowledge of FAI (First Article Inspection) and PPAP processes. Understanding of APQP requirements as they relate to inspection and documentation. Experience with quality control and quality assurance practices in manufacturing. Familiarity with ISO standards and internal audit practices. Ability to perform detailed dimensional analysis and interpret inspection results. Experience managing nonconforming materials and supporting corrective action processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Manufacturing quality experience with exposure to PPAP and ISIR documentation. Knowledge of gauge selection, use, and basic calibration concepts. Experience using microscopes and other precision inspection tools. Understanding of supplier quality processes, including review of deviations and SCARs. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and supplier teams. You will work primarily on a first-shift schedule, currently 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, transitioning to 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, effective 6/1. The position involves regular use of precision measurement equipment such as CMMs, micrometers, calipers, gauges, and microscopes, as well as working with ISO documentation and quality records. The environment requires adherence to standard manufacturing safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for a production and inspection area.
