Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing visual inspections of plastic injection molded parts for the automotive industry. This role involves entering data into a computer system using a portable laptop, verifying the correct quantity of parts for shipping, and inspecting for defects such as flash and shorts. The inspector will determine if parts are pass or fail and communicate with operators regarding the rework of defective parts. Responsibilities Perform visual inspections of plastic injection molded parts. Enter data into computer systems using portable laptops. Verify the proper quantity of parts is placed in boxes for shipping. Inspect parts for defects including flash and shorts. Determine pass or fail status of parts. Communicate with operators about the rework of defective parts. Essential Skills Proficiency in thermoplastic and plastic inspection. Experience with injection mold and quality control processes. Ability to use tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Competence in reading blueprints. Familiarity with quality assurance and inspection procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to visually inspect all parts effectively. Proficiency in using a computer, especially with Excel spreadsheets. Work Environment The position is based in a clean quality department, although occasional walking on the production floor is required. The work hours are structured across two shifts: 2nd Shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and 3rd Shift from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $47840.00/yr.
