JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to conduct inspections and evaluions of a variety of Army aircraft inclusive of the different systems, subsystems, components and parts thereof.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the Connecticut Army Nional Guard.
The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Inspects and evalues aircraft and components for the purpose of determining the depth and scope of the necessary repair, overhaul and/or modificion required to return such aircraft or components to a serviceable condition.
Performs in-process and final inspections of aircraft and components undergoing repair, overhaul and/or modificion, to verify and certify by signure adherence to work techniques, procedures and quality standards established by applicable publicions.
Reviews and checks aircraft forms and records for accuracy and completeness.
Provides technical assistance and expertise on aircraft maintenance and quality control mters to AASF maintenance and supported units.
Prepares formal reports for crash damaged aircraft, outlining parts and merial required to repair such aircraft as well as forecasting labor requirements to accomplish needed repair or overhaul.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weher, on icy, wet and slippery ramps and work-stands in temperure and humidity extremes. Work areas may be drafty, noisy and have toxic fumes present. Irritants such as aircraft fluids, dirt, grease, dust, paint and solvents may be present. Exposure to cuts, burns, shock, strains and broken bones exists.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently, lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing SO pounds and over.

Qualificions
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training th has provided the candide with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specificions. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documention you wish to provide must clearly substantie you currently possess 18 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modificion.
Experience coordining the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
Experience demonstring the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the technical theory and operional characteristics, not only of airframe, but also of mission systems peculiar to the unit aircraft and assigned mission.
Knowledge of the theory and operion of aircraft systems to troubleshoot malfunctions and problems, and determine the extent of repairs and involvement of others in expediting the aircrafts return to comb ready stus.
Skill and knowledge is required to resolve problems and devise solutions when aircraft are not home stion, or a locion where the full complement of support equipment, supplies, parts, tools and maintenance personnel are not available.
Skill to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, service, inspect, and modify aircraft, aircraft installed equipment and reled ground support equipment.
Skill demonstring a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and components in electrical, fuel, hydraulic, environmental and mechanical principles.
Ability to insure proper work sequence planning and review, and a thorough understanding of technical orders, maintenance regulions and management opering procedures.
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applicions considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent required to be assigned to compible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to tend formal technician school training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examinion prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license for the ste in which they live or are principally employed.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training the Nional Guard Professional Educion Center (NGPEC) is a mandory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or terminion of full-time employment unless extenuing circumstances preclude course tendance.
