QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN

Royal Caribbean Bakery, a privately owned and operated specialty bakery, located in Mt. Vernon, Westchester, NY, seeks a Quality Control Technician to join our team to support the implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Program and monitor Program compliance and strict adherence to the Plan. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform daily QA walk-throughs; enforce cGMP policy in the facility and set example by practicing correct cGMP procedures at all times.
  • Monitor plant operations to ensure sanitary operational procedures are followed according to cGMPs.
  • Perform pre-operational and operational inspections, monitoring for food safety and quality.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials; review COAs and COCs as required.
  • Initiate and complete the hold process for non-conforming product, raw materials, and other materials as required; follow up and complete disposition when determined.
  • Verify batch formulas and product labels ensuring activities are complete and meet specifications.
  • Check lot codes of raw materials, ingredients, and finished product to ensure traceability.
  • Monitor and verify CCPs/Preventive Controls as required.
  • Perform equipment calibration as assigned.
  • Perform ATP and Allergen Tests.
  • Perform environmental swabbing for bacteria and pathogens; prepare, document, and send swabs to third-party lab as required.
  • Ensure HACCP plan is followed and enforced; Review HACCP, PCs Records and Sanitation Records.
  • Identify and report food safety issues and assist in conducting investigations into food safety issues, foreign material findings, and customer complaints.
  • Review production records for completion and compliance with good documentation practices
  • Assist with regulatory and independent inspections and audits.
  • Serve as a resource to production employees for product quality, food safety, and regulatory issues.
  • Support food safety program, quality standards, and legality of products manufactured in the facility.
  • Initiate and complete RCA process to develop and initiate Corrective Actions
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation and review of all necessary processes.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :

Associates Degree in Biology, Food Technology, Food Science or equivalent

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Data Entry Software

Minimum two (2) years work-related experience in Food Industry

Proficiency in working knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs and GMPs

Demonstrated technical competence

Strong leadership skills

Good communication and customer service skills
