Summary: The primary function of the Quality Control Technician is to support the day to day activities of the department in assuring the quality of the goods produced in the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs sample testing for production and internal labs using organoleptic, physical, and chemical analysis

• Assists with special assignments as instructed by chemist and/or group leader

• Performs performance check and/or calibration of instrumentation

• Conducts basic laboratory maintenance and cleaning

• Ensures all lab consumables are replenished in a timely manner.

• Trains (summer) interns on lab procedures which includes taking annual lab chemical inventory

• Complies with all safety rules and guidelines, report all potential issues. Complies with the chemical hygiene plan. Actively participates in all departmental and company safety meetings, training sessions and activities.

• Commits to Robertet and SQF Safety and Quality Standards and continuous improvement of the quality management systems.

Position Requirements:

  • Required:
  • Minimum 1 year experience in related discipline and industry setting

    • Currently studying for or have achieved an A.S. or B.S. degree in Chemistry, Food Science or related field

Position Competencies:

• Proficient analytical and organizational skills

• Proficient oral/written/electronic communication skills

• Familiarity with lab instrumentation including spectrophotometry, density meter, refractometer, polarimeter, pH & Karl-Fischer titration, particle size analysis, gas chromatography

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

• Strong attention to detail and Good Lab Practices

Systems Competencies: Be capable of accurately accessing and correctly using company systems (PV, Oracle, Reliance EtQ, BatchMetrics)

• QA Program Competencies: Be capable of properly executing against company Quality SOP’s, including but not limited to non-conformances and internal audits.

Work Environment :

  • Office, Lab, Production Floor (Heavy equipment in use)
  • Exposure to chemicals, Strong Odors. PPE required

Physical Demands:

Occasional moderate lifting required

Standing or sitting for long periods of time

Frequent walking in and out of lab.
