Duties

1. Conducts pre-issue inspection of ammunition items prior to issue. Checks each item for restrictions or suspensions. Inspects vehicles, equipment, and storage areas reling to the safety and security of Ammunition and Explosives (A&E). Advises using units on the proper procedures for completion of documention for issue and turn-in of ammunition and residue. Performs receipt inspections on all ammunition and components turned in by using units. Assists in the inspection and classificion of ammunition throughout the ste. Provides input regarding causes of ammunition un-serviceability and takes approprie action when ammunition deteriorion is found to be other than "fair wear and tear". Inspects small arms ammunition to ensure segregion of ball and blank ammunition. Supports inspections on all A&E residue returned to the ammunition residue yard. (25%)
2. Inspects ammunition, performs maintenance, care, preservion, shipping and storage operions, assuring compliance with Standard Opering Procedures (SOPs), safety regulions, drawings, etc. during operions. Conducts visual, mechanical, functional, stic or dimensional tests as required. Uses and maintains test equipment including calibrion equipment. Sets up and operes specialized Ammunition Peculiar Equipment (APE). Valides merial to assure compibility of explosive items. Spot checks ammunition accountability, and stock accounting procedures. Participes in required quarterly inventories. Conducts causive research by identifying merial with lost identificions or found on post through verificion inspection. Researches through da bases to identify lots and des of arrival. Conducts compliance inspections on units an Ammunition Holding Area (AHA), individual unit field AHAs and unit locions if required. (25%)
3. Responsible for the requirements of all ammunition management documention. Researches, analyzes, and completes the proper and required documention of ammunition transfer records, surveillance records, ammunition condition reports, quality deficiency reports, magazine da cards and numerous other documention and/or reports. Inities and maintains inspection reports, publicions, and files. Verifies all services' suspension and restriction notices. Records inspection results to the Depot Surveillance Record (DSR) in the Munitions History Program (MHP). Assists in ghering informion for the preliminary malfunction report noting all facts pertinent to this malfunction. Confers with Quality Assurance Specialist Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS), Ammunition Officer, or other experts to arrive probable cause for the malfunction and makes recommendion on suspense action. Exhibits an in-depth knowledge of ammunition administrive procedures as outlined in Department of the Army (DA) regulions, pamphlets, and other applicable regulions. Researches and analyzes, maintain, technical manuals, drawings, and specificions to ensure assigned procedures are applicable to specific items. (25%)
4. Assists in the Nional Level Ammunition Capability (NLAC) resupply and excess management process as required. Receives shipments of all types of ammunition. Inspects conveyances carrying incoming/outgoing ammunition for damage, proper lot numbers, compibility of contents, and compliance with directives and regulions. Performs damage-in-transit inspection. Partners with approprie personnel to ensure route is established and documented; assures the load is compible and properly blocked and braced for transportion and th all hazardous merial manifests, firefighting instructions, vehicle placards, vehicle inspection reports, issue documention, etc., has been properly prepared. Oversees or participes in preparing items for transport or shipment. (15%)
5. General knowledge of ammunition processes, regulions, and inspection requirements. Develops technical expertise through schooling, technical publicions and personal experience of ammunition processes, regulions and inspection requirements. Assists with inspections and audits. Knowledge of basic computer programs. Ability to utilize computer skills in the research of munitions. Acquires a working knowledge of ammunition management systems to include Standard Army Ammunition System-Modernizion (SAAS-MOD), Munitions History Program (MHP), Training Ammunition Management Informion System (TAMIS) and NLAC. Develops training modules and blocks of instruction to train, re-train and maintain a ready force. Responsible to interpret drawings, prints, schemics, and specificions. (10%)

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstres knowledge of various codes of federal regulions (i.e., Department of Transportion and Occupional Safety and Health Associion). Ability to respond to unforeseen or emergency situions and be able to make immedie responses to emergency situions, determine the correct course of action to mitige the problem. Knowledge of ammunition/explosives technical references, procedures and policies, merials handling equipment, and lifting gear, rail, and truck characteristics/capabilities. Ability to interpret and apply load drawings technical inspections procedures, publicions, specificions, and technical drawings pertaining to ammunition/explosives. Ability to research, interpret and apply all technical informion necessary to inspect each specific ammunition and explosive item, component, and specialized packing merial. Knowledge of the safety precautions and procedures necessary to be taken with the variety of ammunition and explosives worked on. Knowledge of product specificions, standards, and associed requirements for preservion, packing, shipping, and storage to ensure product quality, safety, and protection of the environment. Ability to recognize the various munitions and explosives to apply the proper procedure for inspecting. Knowledge of opering procedures and safety regulions and procedures applicable to firing range activities. Skill in the operion of the full variety of machines and tools in operions. GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience or training which demonstres the ability to use and maintain tools and equipment associed with the type of work to be done, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Experience which demonstres the knowledge of and the ability to apply safety standards.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstres knowledge of various codes of federal regulions (i.e., Department of Transportion and Occupional Safety and Health Associion). Ability to respond to unforeseen or emergency situions and be able to make immedie responses to emergency situions, determine the correct course of action to mitige the problem. Knowledge of ammunition/explosives technical references, procedures and policies, merials handling equipment, and lifting gear, rail, and truck characteristics/capabilities. Ability to interpret and apply load drawings technical inspections procedures, publicions, specificions, and technical drawings pertaining to ammunition/explosives. Ability to research, interpret and apply all technical informion necessary to inspect each specific ammunition and explosive item, component, and specialized packing merial. Ability to read and comprehend technical orders, technical manuals, schemics, blueprints, and drawings, as well as communice orally and in writing to brief and provide training. Knowledge of the safety precautions and procedures necessary to be taken with the variety of ammunition and explosives worked on. Knowledge of detonion and burning methods and procedures for the destruction of ammunition and explosives. Knowledge of product specificions, standards, and associed requirements for preservion, packing, shipping, and storage to ensure product quality, safety, and protection of the environment. Ability to recognize the various munitions and explosives to apply the proper procedure for inspecting. Ability to recognize weher and other conditions th affect explosive operions and to select the alterne procedures necessary under such conditions. Knowledge of opering procedures and safety regulions and procedures applicable to firing range activities. Skill in the operion of the full variety of machines and tools in operions. Skill in the maintenance and minor repair of machines, tools, and equipment used in ammunition maintenance.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
