As a Project Engineer Reliability Quality, you will be responsible for driving aggressive preventive/corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce the Cost of Poor Quality. Ensuring our products meet the reliability and warranty targets is a key deliverable of this position. By analyzing reliability data, warranty data, and customer feedback, you will develop a list of priority projects. You will work with field service, design engineering, manufacturing quality, and supplier quality to validate your list and further prioritize the projects to resolve them. You will facilitate the problem-solving process by utilizing 8Ds or DMAIC projects to drive full closure and prevention. You will be responsible for reliability test planning, data collection, and data analysis to drive verification and validation. When a new product is released, you will be responsible for closely tracking and monitoring the field performance as part of an early warning tracking and reporting team. An expectation of this position is continuous improvement of the Problem Resolution process in conjunction with New Product Development (NPD). You will be a key member of the NPD process and responsible for the reliability test planning and closing of open incidents before product release.

Specific Responsibilities:

Structured Problem Solving

  • Reduce internal and external failure costs due to design and process-related failures.

  • 8D facilitation and documentation

Probability and Statistical Analysis

  • Pareto and analyze warranty data to identify and communicate current issues.

  • Six Sigma methodology to understand capability, failure rates, basic statistics.

Product Design and Development

  • Participate in and drive design reviews, including DFM/A, Serviceability, and Safety.

Measurement Systems & Analysis

  • Use data collection and instrumentation to understand failures and system interactions.

  • Develop test methods to simulate field environments.

Project Management

  • Coordinate cross functional teams internally and externally, to solve problems, or facilitate strategic projects.


Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing) from an ABET accredited university.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • At times presentations in front of executive staff may be required.

  • Basic understanding of quality tools and methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FEMA, 8D)

  • Willingness to work in a hands-on environment.

  • 2+ years of preferred professional experience (will consider internship or co-op experience) in a manufacturing or quality-related role preferably heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or automotive.

  • Exposure to ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, or similar quality systems desired.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

    • Six Sigma Yellow Belt a plus.

  • Experience using data acquisition equipment and statistical analysis tools desired (e.g. Dewesoft, Minitab)

  • Fabrication (e.g. welding, machining) experience is a plus.

  • Engine (diesel and/or gaseous) experience is a plus.

  • Generator experience is a plus.

The Salary range for this position is $83,300.00-$105,200.00.The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience, their education, and the work location.
