Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist I to execute Quality Assurance (QA) activities as directed for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the MEPPI Critical Power Solutions QA program.

MEPPI Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) continually advances the design, manufacturing, and supply of fully integrated UPS solutions including switchgear and battery cabinets. With these operations, Mitsubishi Electric has been manufacturing precision engineered highly reliable Uninterruptible Power Supplies since 1964 and solving the challenges of American critical facilities since 1985. In 2021, the division expanded into new market verticals, launching IT Cooling products, services and complete solutions for the growing edge data center market.

This position will report to the Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) Quality Department Manager. You will be required to work onsite in Warrendale, PA.

What Youll Do:

  • Maintain and improve the QA/QC program as defined in the Companys Quality Policy Manual.
  • Implement preventive actions to reduce and/or prevent quality problems.
  • Investigate quality problems by reviewing quality trends, tracking the root cause(s) of the problem(s), coordinating corrective actions, and implementing appropriate adjustments. Resolve inquiries to satisfaction in a professional, timely manner, responding verbally and/or in writing.
  • Communicate with new suppliers to familiarize them with MEPPI Quality Assurance procedures; evaluate supplier quality and ability of quality assurance prior to the supplier being approved.
  • Interact with various levels of employees in Engineering, Sales, Operations and Service Departments to prevent and/or remedy quality problems.
  • Travel to customer and/or supplier locations to analyze and remedy quality problems, often traveling on short notice.
  • Coordinate customer and supplier visits. Prepare documents to support customer and 3 rd party audits .
  • Contact suppliers to discuss material specifications, service requirements, needs, and quality problems caused by material and/or subcomponents.
  • Develop and implement any required quality control policies, procedures, specifications, forms, checklists, reports, etc., for services, incoming material, and factory assembly, testing and shipping.
  • Approve test reports and inspection reports as required.
  • Develop procedures and implement program for calibration/certification of tools, test devices, etc.
  • Review suppliers quality assurance programs and assist them to meet MEPPI requirements.
  • Coordinate the resolution of material or service deficiencies, the disposition on non-conforming reports (MRRs), and the execution of the warranty claim process.
  • Assist in Companys ISO-9001 efforts. Lead internal audits .
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable government standards, quality codes, industry standards and Mitsubishi specifications.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of CPSD through interaction with other MEPPI Departments and suppliers.

What Youll Bring:

  • Bachelors degree in technical discipline with 0 to 2 years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of quality control, engineering, production, lean manufacturing, ISO 9001 and statistical methods and techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and to safely and properly use inspection and test tools and equipment.
  • Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Intermediate computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products.
