Position Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Quality Assurance Engineer to lead and manage quality compliance initiatives across aerospace and defense programs. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AS9100 standards, a thorough understanding of Mission Assurance Provisions (MAP), and proficiency in interpreting and applying the Supplier Requirement Applicability Matrix (SRAM). This role is pivotal in ensuring that all quality requirements are effectively flowed down to suppliers and that our products meet stringent industry and governmental standards. Note: Travel may be required up to 15% to other Voyager sites.
Responsibilities:
- AS9100 Compliance: Implement and maintain AS9100-compliant Quality Management Systems (QMS), ensuring adherence to industry standards and continuous improvement.
- Mission Assurance Provisions (MAP): Interpret and apply MAP requirements across programs, ensuring that all contractual quality obligations are met and properly documented.
- Supplier Requirement Applicability Matrix (SRAM): Analyze and interpret SRAM to determine applicable quality requirements for suppliers, ensuring accurate flow-down and compliance.
- Inspection Process Oversight:
- Develop and implement comprehensive inspection plans, including First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify product conformity to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Utilize various inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), to perform precise measurements.
- Document all inspection results, discrepancies, and non-conformance reports in accordance with quality management systems.
- Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of inspection equipment and tools.
- Configuration Management (CM):
- Establish, implement, and maintain a Configuration Management process in accordance with AS9100 Rev D and ISO 10007 standards.
- Manage configuration identification, control, status accounting, and audits to ensure product integrity throughout its lifecycle.
- Coordinate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), ensuring proper documentation, evaluation, and implementation.
- Maintain configuration baselines and ensure traceability of all configuration items
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Corrective Actions: Lead investigations into quality issues, perform RCA, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of quality activities, prepare reports for internal stakeholders and external customers, and present findings during reviews.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management teams to integrate quality requirements into all phases of product development and delivery.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required due to program security requirements
- Hands-on experience with qualification of flight hardware to applicable military and aerospace standards
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in quality assurance roles within the aerospace or defense industry, with direct experience in AS9100 implementation and maintenance.
- MAP & SRAM Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying Mission Assurance Provisions and Supplier Requirement Applicability Matrix in contractual and supplier contexts.
- Auditing Skills: Certified Lead Auditor for AS9100 or equivalent, with experience conducting internal audits.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with ITAR, DFARS, and other relevant governmental regulations affecting quality assurance in defense contracts.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: Master's degree in quality management, Engineering, or a related field.
Other:
- Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) from ASQ.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 Annually
