Quality Inspector - 3rd Shift

Position Summary

This job is responsible for auditing finished product, performing final inspections, and working on nonconformance reports and process work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review WIP Travel pack, confirm all necessary signatures and paperwork are included (manufacturing specifications, SPC Chart, Preform Record, etc.)

  • Fill out Inspection Data Form using latest part series revision or manufacturing drawing references (characteristics, requirements, attributes, condition review, etc.)

  • Audit finished product to paperwork completed through production cycle such as validating OD, ID, Pitch, Outer Pitch, workmanship etc.

  • Perform final inspection on red tagged hose

  • Work with Sr. Quality Engineer on nonconformance reports and process work

  • Support lab with tracking periodic holds and update lab requests on Wavefront LIMS database

  • Partner with production HPTs and other department initiatives as needed

  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion, follow 5S practices

  • Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines

  • Report production issues to Direct Lead and/or Sr. Quality Engineer

  • Perform work of an equal or lower classification

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.

  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.

  • Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

  • Other duties may be assigned at a later time

Qualifications

Education required:

High School diploma or GED

Experience:

At least one (1) year experience in all phases of the quality inspection process

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Knowledge and experience in Aerospace Standards and its general practices

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and basic computer skills preferred.

  • Basic understanding of lean fundamentals preferred

Skills/Competencies:

  • Practical experience working within Quality Management Systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001)

  • Must be able to work and communicate with peers

  • Must be able to write legibly, read and speak English

  • Must be able to adapt to production needs to satisfy customer demands

  • Must be able to read and interpret manufacturing specifications, understand and use shop math, use and interpret measuring instruments (i.e. calipers, micrometers, pi tape, etc.)

  • Ability to neatly and accurately complete forms and other documentation

  • Report directly to Quality Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may be subject to:

  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.

  • Exposure to extremes in temperature and/or humidity.

  • Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection)

  • Sitting & standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis

  • Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
