Job Description

As a Certified Repairman, this position supports FAA/EASA Part 145 repair station operations by performing preliminary, in-process, and final inspections of aerospace avionics equipment (including instruments, accessories, and components) within an FAA-certificated Repair Station.

All activities are executed in compliance with 14 CFR Part 145, approved technical data, and the Repair Station Manual(s), ensuring adherence to airworthiness, quality, and regulatory requirements. The role maintains configuration control, traceability, and documentation integrity, and ensures all inspected articles meet requirements prior to return to service.

The position also supports FOD prevention, safety compliance, and human factors awareness, while coordinating cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Planning to maintain operational readiness and audit compliance (FAA/EASA/customers).

This is an FAA Safety Sensitive position which requires new hires under this program to pass a pre-employment FAA Drug screening. Employees under this program will also be subject to random FAA Drug and Alcohol testing throughout their employment at Teledyne Controls, LLC El Segundo CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs incoming, in-process, and final inspections on a variety of articles in accordance with Teledyne procedures, approved data, and FAA Part 145 requirements.
  • Conducts inspection of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, including subassemblies and assemblies, to verify conformance to design, airworthiness, and customer requirements.
  • Verifies inspection criteria and acceptance limits, including critical features impacting function (e.g., connector integrity, hardware installation, and configuration requirements).
  • Accurately records and inputs inspection results into applicable systems (e.g., Salesforce, TIP Technologies, or other quality databases) to maintain traceability and documentation integrity.
  • Reviews test and inspection data (including ATP/ESS results where applicable) to ensure compliance with acceptance criteria prior to release.
  • Generates and documents nonconformance reports (NCRs)/rejection reports to capture discrepancies and ensure parts are evaluated against purchase order, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities by providing inspection data and defect characterization.
  • Ensures use of calibrated tools and measurement equipment in accordance with metrology and quality system requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in electronics, avionics, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace inspection, avionics maintenance, or repair station environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FAA 14 CFR Part 145, Part 43, and applicable EASA Part 145 requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems and inspection standards.
  • Understanding of airworthiness requirements, approved data, and maintenance documentation.
  • Experience inspecting mechanical, electrical, and electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledge of test methods, ATPs, ESS, and inspection criteria.
  • Proficient in use of inspection tools, measurement equipment, and calibrated instruments.
  • Understanding of traceability, configuration control, and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of FOD prevention, human factors, and safety practices.
  • Must comply with FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Salary Range:

$44,500.00-$59,300.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
