NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is looking for a Weld Quality Lead to join our 1st shift team within the Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) business unit. This Weld Quality Lead is responsible to provide leadership to quality team, and assist in the Weld Quality department in alignment with the company’s objectives and core values.

Job Title: Weld Quality Lead
Location: onsite in Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $37.40 – 44.00 per hour (Non-Exempt)
(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)
Shift Schedule :1st shift Monday - Thursday 5am - 3pm
Shift Differential : 1st shift – N/A

As a Weld Quality Lead , you will:

  • Follow and implement Millerbernd’s NDT processes
  • Follow and implement Millerbernd’s Weld processes
  • Assist in maintaining and updating Millerbernd’s technician qualifications
  • Assist in maintaining and updating Millerbernd’s WPS’s and PQR’s
  • Tracking and reporting of quality metrics
  • Mentor/trainer
  • Maintain equipment calibration procedures and records
  • Maintain welder certification records
  • Assist in submitting deviations to customer specifications
  • Lead PQR and Welder qualification witnessing
  • Provides training and support to new employees during New Hire Orientation
  • Support internal, 3rd party & customer audits
  • Assist others engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Lead complex root cause analysis activities resulting in defect eliminations.
  • Perform internal audits. Document and track non-conforming materials.
  • Lead problem solving activities to determine root cause
  • Oversee calibration and testing program.
  • Ability to support cross-functionally
  • ASNT Level 2 in all required methods (MT, UT, VT)
  • CWI
  • Write formal inspection reports in such a way they are presentable for customer viewing
  • Intermediate knowledge of industry specifications, including the ability to interpret specifications, procedures, and code requirements (AWS, ASTM-123, DOT, etc.)
  • Carries out leader responsibilities including selection, development of the team members, planning and assign work, appraising performance, reward and recognition and addressing concerns

Role Qualifications as a Weld Quality Lead:

  • 3+ years’ quality experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blue prints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, leads from other departments and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Intermediate competency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Perform root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence of issues
  • Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures
  • Effective internal/external customer communication ability
  • Effective and appropriate verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Able to positively influence others as part of a high-performance team
  • Manages time well/able to work on multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures

Physical Demands (Production Roles):

This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires that the individual can lift a minimum of 50lbs. And, if applicable, can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift. Must be able to work in, on, or around equipment and machinery. The employee may need to perform work with the use of ladders.
