Responsibilities
- Ensure products are manufactured and released in full compliance with contract requirements and the established Quality Management System.
- Maintain and support an ISO 9001based Quality Management System, including the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of procedures, records, and training.
- Support internal quality audits as well as customer and nuclear quality audits, ensuring thorough preparation, participation, and follow-up.
- Lead corrective and preventive actions through the Corrective Action Program (CAP), from issue identification through closure and verification of effectiveness.
- Investigate and resolve nonconformances and customer complaints by performing detailed root cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Support supplier quality activities, including supplier evaluations, audits, and resolution of supplier-related quality issues.
- Apply quality tools and data-driven methods to improve process capability, reduce variation, and enhance product reliability.
- Perform structured root cause analysis using methods such as 8D and 5 Why, and document findings and actions in a clear and traceable manner.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and quality records to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Use inspection equipment and statistical analysis techniques to evaluate product and process performance and to support decision-making.
- Manage corrective actions and nonconformances, including documentation, tracking, reporting, and communication with stakeholders.
- Support audits, documentation, and quality oversight for regulated products, particularly in nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production and engineering, to drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a strong quality culture.
- Utilize ERP systems (such as N4 and N3) and quality-related software tools to manage data, generate reports, and maintain accurate records.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of core quality tools and methodologies, including FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC, and 8D.
- Experience using inspection equipment to verify product and process conformity.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis to interpret data, identify trends, and support process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to perform structured root cause analysis using methods such as 8D and 5 Why.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001based Quality Management System or similar structured quality framework.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated environments, including familiarity with frameworks such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR 21.
- Supporting audits, documentation, and oversight of regulated products.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) credential.
- Nuclear audit or related regulatory qualification.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement training.
- Experience with AS9100 and other advanced quality standards.
- Familiarity with automotive or other sector-specific standards such as TS-related quality systems.
- Experience working with ERP systems, particularly N4 and N3, for quality data management and reporting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and functions.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and continuous learning in quality and process improvement.
The Quality Engineer works in a dynamic manufacturing environment, spending approximately 60% of the time on a computer and 40% on the production floor. The role involves close collaboration with the quality team and other departments, balancing hands-on engagement with data-driven analysis, documentation, and reporting.
