Position Summary
The Quality Technician / Inspector is responsible for performing dimensional inspections of mold components, electrodes, and molded plastic parts to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and customer requirements. This role supports production quality through the use of precision measurement equipment, CMM programming and operation, calibration activities, and adherence to the company's Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities
Perform in-process and final inspections of mold components, assemblies, and related tooling.
Inspect graphite electrodes to verify dimensional accuracy prior to manufacturing use.
Conduct dimensional inspections of molded plastic parts using appropriate measurement techniques and equipment.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to determine inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
Program and operate CMM to perform complex inspections and generate inspection reports.
Utilize precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, gauge pins, and other inspection tools.
Operate optical inspection equipment such as optical comparators, tooling microscopes, and vision systems.
Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records in accordance with company procedures and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming products or processes.
Perform calibration and recordkeeping activities for company measuring equipment and inspection tools.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience in a precision manufacturing, tooling, mold making, or machining environment preferred.
Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Proficiency with precision measuring equipment and inspection methodologies.
Experience programming and operating CMM equipment; PC-DMIS experience preferred.
Experience using optical inspection equipment, including optical comparators and tooling microscopes.
Strong mathematical and trigonometry skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
