Job Description This role leads quality assurance and quality control for complex electrical systems on mission-critical construction projects, with a strong focus on data centers and high-availability facilities. The QA/QC Manager reviews electrical designs, oversees constructability and coordination, manages inspection and test plans, and ensures that all installations meet applicable codes, standards, and owner requirements. The position requires deep expertise in redundancy concepts and a strong understanding of how installation quality directly impacts system uptime. Responsibilities
- Participate actively in electrical design reviews, constructability reviews, and coordination meetings to ensure high-quality, buildable solutions.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, sequences of operation, grounding plans, and protection schemes for quality, clarity, and constructability.
- Identify potential quality risks related to electrical redundancy and topology, maintainability and access, and testing and commissioning constraints.
- Support VDC/BIM coordination efforts to achieve clash-free routing for bus duct, conduit banks, cable trays, and equipment clearances.
- Develop, manage, and execute Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for all electrical work, including medium-voltage (MV) switchgear and distribution, transformers and unit substations, generators and paralleling gear, UPS systems and batteries, PDUs, RPPs, and branch circuitry, as well as grounding and bonding systems.
- Perform routine and milestone field inspections to verify installation quality, workmanship, and adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and ITPs.
- Verify proper installation of conduit, tray, and raceway systems, ensuring correct routing, support, and spacing.
- Inspect power and control cabling to confirm correct routing, segregation, and terminations in accordance with project requirements.
- Confirm that terminations, torqueing, and labeling are completed correctly and documented as required.
- Ensure materials and equipment are installed in accordance with manufacturer instructions, approved submittals, and applicable codes and standards.
- Collaborate with construction and project management teams to address quality issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
- Use scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 to coordinate QA/QC activities with construction milestones and commissioning schedules.
- Document inspection results, nonconformances, and resolutions, and contribute to continuous improvement of QA/QC processes.
- Proven experience in QA/QC management or quality assurance roles within electrical construction, preferably on mission-critical or data center projects.
- Strong understanding of mission-critical electrical systems and redundancy concepts, including N, N+1, 2N, and 2N+1 configurations, and how installation quality impacts system uptime.
- Demonstrated ability to review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, sequences of operation, grounding plans, and protection schemes.
- Hands-on experience developing and executing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for electrical systems such as MV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, RPPs, branch circuitry, and grounding and bonding systems.
- Solid knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NEC (NFPA 70) and NFPA 70E, as well as applicable ANSI and manufacturer standards.
- Experience scheduling and coordinating work using Primavera P6.
- Strong background in construction and construction management with a focus on electrical systems.
- Ability to identify quality risks related to constructability, maintainability, redundancy, and commissioning constraints.
- Proficiency in conducting detailed field inspections and documenting findings in a clear and structured manner.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with design, construction, and VDC/BIM teams.
- Experience working on data center or other mission-critical facility projects.
- Familiarity with VDC/BIM coordination processes and tools to support clash detection and resolution for electrical systems.
- Experience with forecasting and planning QA/QC activities in alignment with project schedules.
- background in quality assurance methodologies within construction environments.
- Exposure to owner-specific requirements and standards for high-availability electrical systems.
- Any relevant technical training, certifications, or education in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
