Under the general direction of the Front Line Manager or Supervisory Principal Avionics Inspector, assists the Partial Program Manager (Avionics), in accomplishing the following duties:

A. Technical Administrion

Within assigned technical program, assures on a continuing basis th organizions are properly and adequely organized, staffed, and equipped; have and conduct an adeque training program, including an acceptable record keeping system; and have facilities and procedures th meet all regulory requirements. Regularly s the organizion's stions and other offices to maintain contact with their management officials; coordines with the principal inspector for correction of any deficiencies/discrepancies.

Develops maintenance program requirements through participion on Maintenance Review Boards. Coordines Minimum Equipment List (MEL) approvals with the principal operions inspector. Takes enforcement action in instances of noncompliance with the MEL.

Conducts enforcement investigions and prepares final reports and recommendions on disposition. Performs the emergency suspension of certifices or cancellions of operions specificions. Conducts or directs the reexaminion of certificed airmen or recertificion of an operor or agency.

Conducts investigions of public complaints, congressional inquiries, and aircraft incidents and accidents.

Provides verbal and/or written technical assistance to legal counsel, testifies court trials and formal hearings, and gives depositions.

Coordines with geographic inspectors for the accomplishment of nonroutine air carrier surveillance.

B. Certificion

The inspector is responsible for initial and ongoing certificion of air carriers, aircraft, airmen, and air agencies. Makes recommendions on the appointment of designees.

Evalues requests to opere under conditions not previously specified in the maintenance portion of the operions specificions and approves or disapproves requests and provides additional conditions and limitions as needed.

Provides guidance to the assigned air carrier in the development of required maintenance manuals and record keeping systems. Reviews and determines adequacy of manuals associed with the air carrier's maintenance programs and revisions thereto. Assures th manuals and revisions comply with regulory requirements, prescribe safe practices, and furnish clear and specific instructions governing maintenance programs. Approves operions specificions and amendments thereto.

Determines if the maintenance facilities being established or contract arrangements entered into by air carriers for the purpose of overhaul work, major repairs, alterions, and other maintenance are sisfactory. Reviews changes and negoties with air carrier management to resolve problems.

Determines if overhaul and inspection time limitions warrant revision.

Evalues an operor's proposed reliability programs for compliance with nional policies. Advises operor of deficiencies and required changes. Approves/disapproves reliability programs.

Determines if the air carrier's training program meets the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulions (CFR), is compible with the maintenance program, is properly organized and effectively conducted, and results in trained and competent personnel.

Directs or participes in proving flight evaluions to determine compliance with the CFRs. Recommends changes th required prior to approval.

C. Surveillance

Directs and/or performs the inspection and surveillance of the air carrier's continuous airworthiness maintenance program. Monitors all phases of the air carrier's maintenance operion, including the following: maintenance, engineering, quality control, production control, training, and reliability programs. Analyzes trends to detect a deteriorion in the maintenance program.

Monitors the activities of air operors, air agencies, airmen, and designees.

General Requirements for All Positions:

Not more than two separe incidents involving Federal Aviion regulions violions in the last 5 years

Valid Ste driver's license

Fluency in the English language

No chemical dependencies or drug abuse th could interfere with job performance, and

High School diploma or equivalent.

Medical Requirements: Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviion Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner, and must meet all of the following requirements:

Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed merials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted);

Have the ability to hear the conversional voice (hearing aid permitted); and

Not have any physical condition th would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others th would interfere with their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft.

In addition, applicants for positions th require participion in the operion of the aircraft must:

Possess a valid second-class medical certifice in accordance with FAA regulions; and

Pass recurrent medical examinions as prescribed by the FAA.

Applicants not requiring valid second-class medical certifices who are tentively selected required to:

Provide documention from a board-certified physician certifying th they meet the minimal medical requirements; or

Individuals who do not meet the minimum medical requirements but who are otherwise qualified will receive an individualized assessment to determine whether they can perform the essential functions of the position.

When the predominant work involves air carrier avionics , applicants for Aviion Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) positions must meet all of the following requirements.

Aircraft avionics experience involving the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed avionics systems on aircraft.

Avionics maintenance experience on aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum certificed takeoff weight.

Aircraft avionics work experience (which could include supervision or auditing) in a repair stion; air carrier repair facility; military repair facility; or local, ste, or Federal governmental agency within the last 3 years.

To qualify for this position you must demonstre in your applicion th you possess least one year of experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12 grade level as an Aviion Safety Inspector. Specialized experience is experience th has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Monitoring, planning or conducting inspection programs.
