Aerotek is hiring Quality Assurance Inspector - Metal Fabrication 1st shift $28+ based on experience Responsibilities Inspect fabricated components, stair systems, handrails, and custom metal assemblies at multiple stages of production. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols to understand design intent and quality requirements. Verify fit-up, alignment, and dimensional accuracy before and after welding to ensure tight tolerances and proper assembly. Inspect welds for appearance, consistency, and overall quality, with a strong focus on visible and aesthetic welds in addition to structural integrity. Identify defects such as misalignment, poor fit-up, uneven welds, surface imperfections, and other quality issues. Use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, calipers, and gauges to confirm dimensions and tolerances. Audit work in process and finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications. Document inspection findings, maintain quality records, and support document control processes as needed. Work closely with fabrication and welding teams to communicate issues, correct defects, and prevent recurrence. Promote a detail-oriented, craftsmanship-focused mindset across the production floor to uphold high aesthetic and quality standards. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or quality inspection. Former welder or fitter with demonstrated pride in clean, high-quality work. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings. Hands-on experience with fit-up, layout, and detailed fabrication work. Working knowledge of MIG, Flux-Core, or TIG welding processes. Proven ability to inspect welds and fabricated components for both structural and aesthetic quality. Strong eye for detail, finish quality, and craftsmanship, particularly on visible welds and customer-facing products. Proficiency using measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, calipers, and gauges. environments where appearance, precision, and tight tolerances are critical. Ability to collaborate effectively with fabrication teams and communicate quality issues clearly. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience building handrails, stair systems, ornamental metal, or custom metal assemblies. Experience inspecting visible or customer-facing metal products. Quality assurance, quality control, and inspection experience in a fabrication setting. Exposure to audit activities and document control related to quality processes. Experience as a fabricator welder in metal or custom fabrication environments. Strong blueprint interpretation and blueprint reading skills. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times, including steel toe shoes, ear plugs, safety glasses, and appropriate work pants with no rips or tears.
