Job Title: Test Systems Associate Technician
Job Description
The Test Systems Associate Technician supports the assembly, modification, and maintenance of test systems and tools used to evaluate electro-mechanical and electronic components. This role helps ensure that products meet customer and quality requirements by delivering accurate and reliable test results while consistently maintaining a high standard of workmanship. The technician works closely with test systems engineers, contributing hands-on support to build, verify, and troubleshoot test equipment and related systems.
Responsibilities
- Assemble tester cabinets and complete test systems by following engineering documentation, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic components and systems.
- Fabricate, modify, and install test system components to support evolving test requirements and designs.
- Build and assemble tester wiring harnesses with attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
- Perform verification and measurement analysis using digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and oscilloscopes to confirm proper operation of test systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot test equipment, tools, and systems to minimize downtime and ensure reliable performance.
- Assist with the development and buildout of new test system designs in collaboration with the Test Systems Engineering team.
- Provide hands-on support to the Test Systems Engineering team to help meet project needs, schedules, and milestones.
- Follow established procedures, documentation, and safety practices when assembling, testing, and maintaining equipment.
- Accurately document work performed, test configurations, and any issues identified during assembly or troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities to improve test system reliability, usability, and maintainability.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of relevant hands-on technical or electrical experience.
- Ability to read and understand basic wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with test and measurement equipment, including digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and oscilloscopes.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Ability to assemble, modify, and maintain electronic and electro-mechanical test systems.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for test equipment, tools, and systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow engineering documentation and technical manuals accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's degree or 2-year technical degree is preferred but not required.
- Soldering experience with both surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole components is a plus.
- Basic understanding of printed circuit board (PCB) layout concepts is a plus.
- Basic familiarity with PCB fabrication methods is a plus.
- Experience assembling tester wiring harnesses is beneficial.
- Background in electronics, engineering technology, or a related technical field is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative engineering and technical team.
Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
