SUMMARY Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Works to insure a safe working environment. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.
  • Proactively lead the quality improvement process through interpretation of specifications to produce procedures that comply with the specifications and applicable regulations.
  • Performs first piece, process and final inspections of mechanical assemblies.
  • Maintains QC documentation, vendor certification reviews and approvals, customer test reports.
  • Facilitate and coordinate various audits: internal , incoming inspection, and customers.
  • Monitor product quality through sample inspections to ensure that manufactured and retest equipment meets the customer provided specifications and regulations.
  • Establish, implement and control quality standards, specifications, test procedures, and purpose Quality Manual revisions. .
  • Resolves and tracks discrepant material issues, non-conforming tag tracking log, delay processes, rework data, and personnel training and certification records.
  • Coordinates and maintains QA inspection procedures to ensure compliance and certification, e.g. DOT, ASME, NB, UN, ISO, TC,
  • Maintain calibration records, gauges, measuring instruments, tensile, impact scales, etc.
  • Conducts safety and environmental inspections to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations with assistance from Safety Officer.
  • Conducts monthly safety meeting and trains staff in safety related areas, as well as OSHA compliance issues.
  • Investigate and report accidents, maintain safety records and MSD binder. Interacts with production, engineering, sales, marketing and other departments to accomplish departmental objectives.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING TIME
  • 1 year Quality/Safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing/service environment
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications.
  • Familiarity with QC systems; Microsoft Word/Excel proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, ratios, weights, percentages, area circumference and volume and to apply these to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, blueprints and diagrams. Ability to effectively present verbal or written information in one-on-one situations to customers, vendors and other employees in the organization.
  • Production may be stalled if material not ordered or ordered timely; customer dissatisfaction may result if delivery is not timely
Latitude of Judgment Receives indirect or occasional supervision. Works toward a definite objective using a variety of methods or procedures. Plans and arranges own work and only refers to the supervisor for unusual matter. Moderate flexibility. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. Physical Demands Efforts Frequently walks around plant yard, and train depot when receiving pipe shipment via rails. Frequently required to use fingers with computer use. Mental & Visual Demands Ability to solve practical problems using concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and see an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to determine most cost effective means in performance of tasks. Ability to work well with others, handle diplomatic situations and prioritize. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, is frequently exposed to odors, noise, heat, cold, dirt, wetness and dust.
