Test Technician PAY: $30-$40 depending on experience Job Description The Test Technician performs high-pressure pneumatic and hydrostatic testing on aerospace components, ensuring the reliability and safety of critical engine and fluid system hardware. This role builds and configures test setups from engineering documentation, executes a variety of proof and leak tests, and uses instrumentation and data acquisition systems to monitor and record test results while independently troubleshooting issues that arise during testing. Responsibilities Perform high-pressure pneumatic and hydrostatic testing on aerospace components, including engine components, valves, tubes, tanks, and fluid systems. Execute proof tests, internal leak tests, external leak tests, and opening margin tests in accordance with established procedures and specifications. Build, assemble, and configure test setups using P&IDs, schematics, and engineering drawings to ensure accurate and safe test configurations. Operate and monitor test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition (DAQ) systems to collect, record, and verify test data. Analyze test data to confirm that components meet performance and safety requirements. Independently troubleshoot test failures and diagnose issues with components, test setups, or equipment. Adjust test setups, parameters, and configurations as needed to resolve issues and complete testing successfully. Maintain test equipment, fixtures, and instrumentation in good working order and report any maintenance needs. Follow all test procedures, safety protocols, and documentation requirements throughout the testing process. Collaborate with engineering and other technical staff to clarify test requirements and communicate test results and issues. Document test configurations, observations, and results accurately for traceability and reporting. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of experience performing high-pressure testing with pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Strong understanding of leak testing, proof testing, and pressure systems, including safety considerations. Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, P&IDs, and schematics to build and configure test setups. Hands-on experience with test instrumentation and data acquisition (DAQ) systems. Proficiency with high-pressure test equipment and related fixtures. Ability to independently troubleshoot test failures and diagnose root causes. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when executing tests and recording data. Ability to follow written procedures and technical documentation consistently. Effective communication skills to work with engineers and technical team members. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with aerospace components such as engine hardware, valves, tubes, tanks, and fluid systems. Familiarity with high-pressure pneumatic and hydrostatic testing best practices. Comfort working from complex P&IDs, schematics, and engineering drawings to configure test systems. Experience operating and maintaining a variety of test equipment and instrumentation. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
