and Compliance Engineer I, is eligible for an annual promotion. The incumbentmay advance
to a higher grade within the classification series, based on satisfactory work performance.
Progressive grade levels include:
Regulatory and Compliance Engineer II Grade 17 $70,743.00-$110,288.00 Yearly
Regulatory and Compliance Engineer III Grade 19 $80,541.00-$125,564.00 Yearly
The Municipal Wastewater Permit Division within the Waterand Science Administration is seeking a Regulatory and Compliance Engineer.This entry-level position is responsible for protecting Marylands waterquality standards and implementing Federal Clean Water Act requirements. Thisis a field position and work require visiting sites in the surrounding countiesin Maryland. This is a field position, and this role requires visiting varioussites throughout the surrounding counties in Maryland.
As a project manager in this role, responsibilitiesinclude:
- Writing wastewater discharge permits and implementing Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs).
- Managing the permit issuance process, including the preparation of fact sheets, public notices, and responses to comments.
- Meeting with applicants and interested parties.
- Conducting and participating in public meetings.
- Preparing files for judicial review.
The incumbent in this position will be required to drive aState vehicle.
Drivers License : Avalid drivers license with no more than five points is required to operate aState vehicle.
Out-of-State Licenses : Ifyou hold an out-of-state license, you must provide a certified copy of yourdriving record from the appropriate Motor Vehicle Administration at the time ofappointment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSApplicants must satisfy the minimum qualifications to be considered for this position and move forward in the hiring process. Please read all requirements before applying.
Education : A Bachelor's degree in engineeringor architecture from an accredited college or university.
Experience : None.
Notes :
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelorsdegree from an accredited college or university with at least 20 credithours in engineering and two years performing engineering orarchitectural work in pollution control, waste remediation, resourceconservation, environmental protection, public health and safety, or relatedareas may be substituted for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of acurrent Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in theState of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements for the requirededucation.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forcesmilitary service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering andArchitecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes inthe Environmental field of work on a year-for-year basis for the requirededucation.

It is preferred that the selected candidate has anengineering degree in the following disciplines:

In addition, the selected candidate has previous workingknowledge using water-quality assessment model software such as WASP, QUAL2E,or CORMIX.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
