Summary:
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Quality and Food Safety measures. Ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, standard operating procedures, and specifications. Responsible for the effective utilization of QA resources and participates on management teams to provide information or direction on special projects while working cooperatively with other supervisors. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the manager.
Accountability # 1 - (55%): Quality/Food Safety
Understands, follows, and enforces OSHA safety policies, HACCP, BRCGS, and GMP policies.
Enforces food safety and sanitation regulations in compliance with FSMA, to ensure that product safety and quality is maintained, understood, and properly executed site wide.
Responsible for ensuring products meet quality specifications and food safety standards through monitoring and regular inspections.
Responsible for addressing potential food safety hazards and communicating as needed. Work with management and quality assurance staff to resolve any quality and food safety issues.
Responsible for promoting a food safety culture by implementing goals & achieving food quality objectives.
Develops and improves inspection methods and recommends improvements to procedures to ensure that work is completed efficiently. Responsible for properly maintaining quality and sanitation programs.
Updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal and customer documents when necessary.
Verifies label accuracy during production and may correct minor, non-system label errors (e.g., date codes, lot codes, or print alignment). Escalates all label creation, format changes, customer-specific changes, or system-level issues to the Day Shift QA Supervisor or Quality Manager.
Properly maintains and calibrates equipment for optimum performance. Perform tests on all equipment on a routine basis to ensure familiarity with testing protocols.
Performs walkthroughs and foreign material audits utilizing RedZone. Conducts follow up as needed for corrective action.
Responsible for environmental monitoring program results including pre-op testing and analysis.
Responsible for daily records review, food safety paperwork, product release and retain storage program.
Verifies Level 1 product holds daily, as applicable, using the RedZone hold verification form, to ensure proper identification, segregation, documentation, and compliance with internal hold procedures. Escalates discrepancies or potential risks to the Quality Manager.
Responsible for customer corrective action reports and questionnaires as assigned.
Supports activities related to third Party Food Safety, Customer and/or Regulatory audits.
Maintains Glass and Brittle Plastic registers/survey, foreign material monitoring, and micro reporting.
Ensures validation testing for magnets, metal detectors, or other equipment as directed.
Responsibility for setting up courier for micro, nutritional, pesticide pick-ups
Accountability # 2 - (25%): Supervisory and Training
Supervises and evaluates the day-to-day activities of lab technicians and sanitation employees.
Executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employee: planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Assists with key customer and third-party food safety audits and may lead areas of audits depending upon scope and complexity.
Responsible for planning & monitoring labor efficiently including time and attendance. Coordinate with other departments as needed for training and backup support.
Responsible for training on SOPs, Safety, Food Safety, GMP's, CCP's, Food Defense, Allergen Control and other training as deemed necessary.
Train sanitation and lab tech employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and administer corrective action; address issues and resolve problems.
Basic knowledge of MVP Plant maintenance software work request system to report maintenance issues.
Understand how to use Redzone to record and retrieve information
Understands how to use Netsuite to record and retrieve information.
Acts as a problem solver and team player
Accountability # 3 - (20%) Communication and Reporting of Data
Promptly inform Quality Assurance Manager of known or anticipated problems
Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
Ensures clear and timely communication to maximize quality, productivity and minimize down time.
Assigned spreadsheets and documents are updated.
Ensures all QA documentation is completed, reviewed, and properly filed daily/weekly/monthly, etc.
Responsible for ensuring products meet specification and food safety standards.
Communication with shifts with other supervisors and managers, sending/responding to emails, reporting on new employee progress and any employee related issues that may arise. Communication across departments and shifts is very important.
Presents technical information or procedures to employees and plays an active role on assigned teams.
