Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Quality Engineer ensures that all quality requirements are met for government contracts by inspecting incoming products, supporting supplier quality, and driving continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on maintaining robust quality systems, collaborating with customers on quality issues and audits, and supporting data-driven quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all quality requirements are met for government contracts, including compliance with applicable specifications and regulations.
- Inspect incoming products purchased for orders, including raw materials, subcomponents, and assemblies, to verify conformance to requirements.
- Support supplier quality activities by assessing incoming supplier materials and components and addressing nonconformances.
- Contact customer personnel regarding product rejection issues and coordinate resolution in a timely and professional manner.
- Serve as a liaison between internal teams and customer quality personnel to address quality concerns and support on-site quality audits.
- Participate in or support on-site quality audits with customers, providing documentation and explanations of quality processes as needed.
- Comply with all applicable requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives by establishing methods of data collection and applying experimental design techniques where appropriate.
- Help drive continuous improvement through collaboration with appropriate personnel in manufacturing, engineering, and other functions.
- Apply general quality system knowledge (such as ISO or AS9100) to maintain and improve quality processes and documentation.
- Document inspection results, quality issues, and corrective actions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support adherence to government regulations and contract-specific quality requirements throughout the production process.
Essential Skills
- Experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of quality engineering principles and practices.
- Hands-on experience with root cause analysis to investigate and resolve quality issues.
- Experience with supplier quality, including inspection of incoming materials and components.
- Ability to inspect incoming products such as raw materials, subcomponents, and assemblies against defined requirements.
- General knowledge of quality systems such as ISO or AS9100.
- Ability to work effectively as a liaison between internal teams and customer quality personnel.
- Strong communication skills to interact with customer personnel regarding rejection issues and quality audits.
- Ability to comply with and uphold Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.
- Capability to collect and interpret quality data to support improvement initiatives.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in inspections, documentation, and reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Engineering or a Bachelor of Science in a technical field.
- Prior quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with government regulations related to quality for government contracts.
- Experience establishing methods of data collection or using experimental design techniques for quality improvement.
- Interest in contributing to continuous improvement efforts within a growing organization.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a family-oriented, small-company environment.
Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing and office environment with a family-oriented, small-company feel in a growing organization. The employee frequently walks, stands, or sits and regularly uses hands to operate office equipment and handle or feel objects, tools, or controls while communicating clearly by talking and hearing. The position occasionally requires stooping or kneeling, reaching with arms, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities such as close vision and distance vision are required to perform inspections and review documentation. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to hot and cold temperatures. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
401k employee match of 50%, up to 3% of base salary; eligible after 12 months of employment. Personal life insurance benefit equal to one year of base salary.
