The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring product quality and process efficiency. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control systems, ensuring products meet or exceed quality standards, comply with regulations, and satisfy customer requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001), AS9100, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Audit systems and processes to identify areas for improvement.

  • Monitor production workflows to ensure adherence to quality specifications.

  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.

  • Plan, execute, and oversee product inspections and testing at various stages of production.

  • Investigate product defects or non-conformities, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.

  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits to maintain compliance.

  • Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics, inspection results, and corrective actions.

  • Update the Quality Management System (QMS) with incidents, improvements, and audit findings.

  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for quality assurance processes.

  • Initiate PPAP and First Article generation.

  • Manage gauge calibration and tracking software.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Utilize quality assurance tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, ISO 9001, AS9100, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Standard Work, and Supplier Quality Management.

  • Apply lean manufacturing principles.

  • Use CMMs, specifically Zeiss and Calypso software.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.

  • Manage supplier non-conformities.

Education Requirements
  • Preferred bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.

  • 4+ years of work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • Successfully pass drug screening.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform shop math functions, including trigonometry.

  • Understanding of Quality Policy and fundamentals of ISO 9001 and AS9100.

  • Ability to work with deadlines.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

  • Ability to use the latest technology/software provided.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated with excellent prioritization skills.

  • Must adhere to all OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, climb stairs and ladders, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

  • Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.

  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.

  • Visual requirements include color perception, peripheral and depth perception, close and distance vision for reading blueprints and documentation.

  • Hearing ability required to monitor machine sounds and identify operational changes.

  • Near acuity and accommodation required for reading gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments.

Working Environment/Conditions
  • Moderate to high noise levels from operating machines.

  • Exposure to moving equipment and machine parts.

  • Exposure to fumes, dust, mist, oils, and cutting fluids.

  • May require overtime and/or Saturday work depending on customer needs.

  • May require travel to customers or vendors.

  • Additional job-related duties may be assigned in accordance with applicable laws.
