JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for helping the quality team maintain and improve the quality management system by supporting customer and regulatory audits, performing internal audits, and enhancing the impact of quality system documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Key Functions:
Support the quality team in customer and regulatory audits of the quality management system.Perform internal audits of internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.Manage, maintain, and uphold quality management system documentation.Function as subject matter expert for all quality system requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards.Effectively communicate and reinforce commitment to quality improvement efforts.Assist with corporate quality system processes - procedure management, customer quality surveys, root cause/corrective action activities, etc.Assist with quality system improvement projects.Employ quality databases to ensure data is captured and can be used for future improvement efforts.Develop and deliver training as neededSupervisory Responsibilities - None.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical or manufacturing related field from a four-year college or university or 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment. Must be familiar with quality management system standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 13485, etc.).
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:Must be able to effectively communicate with management, peers, and operators at each level in both oral and written formats. Must be able to write work instructions and related documentation with a solid grasp on proper use of the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Requires the ability to competently operate a computer and be proficient with Microsoft Office. Should be knowledgeable and/or familiar with applicable IATF, ISO, and quality system requirements and policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:Safety glasses and safety shoes must be worn in all manufacturing areas. Additional PPE may be required as needed.
