Job Description

The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that welded components, fabricated vessels, piping systems, and assemblies consistently meet industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality expectations. This on-site position, based at a customer facility in Boise, Idaho, involves approximately 10% travel and requires strong technical inspection skills, clear communication, and close collaboration with both internal teams and customer-site quality personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed visual inspections of welds to verify compliance with applicable codes, AWS standards, and customer requirements.
  • Review and validate Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Test Records (WQTR) to ensure proper documentation and adherence to standards.
  • Inspect fabricated vessels, skidded systems, and internal vessel components to confirm that all work meets design and quality specifications.
  • Perform in-house inspections on fabricated parts and assemblies to identify defects and verify conformance before shipment or installation.
  • Inspect PVDF and PP welds used in high-purity semiconductor piping systems to ensure they meet stringent cleanliness and performance requirements.
  • Inspect PVC piping, bonded assemblies, and internal PVC vessel components for proper installation, fit-up, and overall quality.
  • Verify the installation and fit-up of internal vessel assemblies to ensure alignment with engineering drawings and project requirements.
  • Perform inspections on equipment upon arrival after shipment to confirm condition, completeness, and conformance to specifications.
  • Verify the condition and placement of equipment after contractor handling and installation at the customer site.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, including photos and supporting documentation, for submission to the Quality Manager and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of weld activities, inspection results, and fabrication processes in accordance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Ensure all documentation and records meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards and are properly organized for audits and project reviews.
  • Work directly with customer-site quality teams to maintain strong professional relationships and ensure alignment on quality expectations.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to welders and fabrication personnel to help them adhere to applicable standards and improve quality where needed.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and project teams to align inspection activities with project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment performing quality inspections.
  • Hands-on inspection experience with PVDF and PP high-purity piping systems, preferably in semiconductor or similar applications.
  • Experience inspecting PVC piping and bonded assemblies in an industrial or construction setting.
  • Experience inspecting MEP systems on active job sites, including coordination with other trades and contractors.
  • Current welding certificate demonstrating a solid understanding of welding processes and quality requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of weld inspection practices and relevant standards, including AWS and customer-specific requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, and fabrication documents.
  • Proficiency in preparing clear, detailed inspection reports with supporting photos and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to identifying nonconformances and documenting findings.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with quality teams, engineers, production staff, and customer representatives.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with vessel fabrication, including pressure vessels and related components.
  • Experience with skidded systems and internal component installation within vessels or process equipment.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with customer-site personnel.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced project environments with evolving priorities and schedules.

Work Environment

This role is based full-time on site at a customer facility in Boise, Idaho. The position involves working in an active industrial and construction environment, including fabrication areas, equipment installation zones, and high-purity piping and vessel installation locations. The work may require moving between indoor and outdoor areas, climbing or accessing equipment platforms, and conducting inspections on active job sites where MEP systems are being installed. The role includes approximately 10% travel to support project needs. You will work closely with customer-site quality teams, engineering and production staff, and contractors in a collaborative, project-driven setting. Appropriate safety gear and attire are required in accordance with site safety policies and industrial best practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.00/hr.
