Position Summary
Tosoh Quartz Inc. is seeking a Director of Quality to lead quality performance at our Portland site. As a supplier of high-purity quartz products for advanced semiconductor manufacturing, quality execution directly impacts customer process stability and device performance.
This role is responsible for product quality, audit readiness, and a robust, fully embedded Quality Management System (QMS). The Director serves as the senior authority for customer-facing quality matters while driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, and performance.
What you'll do.
Quality Leadership
Lead site Quality function and team
Own and improve ISO 9001 QMS
Ensure systems are embedded in daily operations
Serve as final authority on product disposition, quality risk, and data integrity
Own Quality KPIs, performance reporting, and continuous improvement priorities
Develop forward-looking quality strategy aligned with business and customer needs
Manage Quality department budget and resource planning
Audits and Customer Interface
Lead customer and ISO audits (IDMs, OEMs, semiconductor equipment manufacturers)
Maintain continuous audit readiness with accurate, traceable data
Approve audit responses, root cause analyses, and CAPAs
Act as senior quality lead for audits, escalations, and business reviews
Lead formal QMS management review processes with executive leadership
Quality Assurance
Own product quality from receipt through shipment
Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection systems
Ensure strong execution of SPC, metrology, and calibration programs
Drive disciplined nonconformance, deviation, and change control processes
Manage supplier quality performance and ensure incoming material reliability
Evaluate and implement new inspection and quality control technologies
Align procedures, systems, and shop floor execution
Performance Improvement
Partner with Operations and Engineering to improve yield and reduce defects
Lead root cause analysis and ensure sustainable corrective actions
Drive process stability and manufacturing robustness
Systems & Data
Ensure all quality records are accurate and audit-ready
Drive alignment between system workflows and business processes
Leadership
Build and develop a high-performing Quality team
Provide clear visibility into quality performance, risks, and priorities
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
10+ years Quality leadership in semiconductor, high-purity, or regulated manufacturing
Experience owning ISO 9001 systems and leading audits
Strong ERP-based quality systems experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Semiconductor materials, quartz, ceramics, or chemical manufacturing experience
- Experience with IDM/OEM customers
- IFS ERP and/or ISO Lead Auditor certification
