Incoming Quality Control Inspector Job Description The Incoming Quality Control Inspector ensures that incoming mechanical and electrical components meet manufacturing and production standards through precise dimensional and visual inspections. This role supports overall quality compliance by performing inspections, documenting results, and assisting with corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards in a robotics manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform detailed inspection of incoming materials in accordance with manufacturing specifications using mechanical inspection methods, tools, and equipment. Conduct dimensional and visual inspections on both electrical and mechanical components to verify conformance to requirements. Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools to validate component dimensions. Review engineering drawings and specifications and provide feedback or recommendations to improve manufacturability, cost efficiency, and safety. Record, track, and accurately report inspection results in the appropriate systems or documentation. Identify nonconforming materials and support the implementation of corrective actions based on inspection findings. Maintain inspection tools and equipment in proper working order, including ensuring calibration is current and documented. Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities by providing inspection data and participating in the evaluation of nonconforming materials. Follow established quality control procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of inspection processes. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with quality control or quality inspection in a manufacturing or production environment. Proficiency in performing mechanical inspections using micrometers, calipers, and related precision measurement tools. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including dimensional requirements. Knowledge of quality management systems such as IPC-610, ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent. Understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and documentation. Effective verbal and written communication skills to document findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to conduct thorough visual inspections of mechanical and electrical components. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control methodologies in a manufacturing setting. Experience working within a robotics, electronics, or precision mechanical manufacturing environment. Ability to identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, cost, and safety based on inspection feedback. Comfort working with inspection reporting tools or quality documentation systems.
