Job Description

The Quality Inspector ensures that assembled products meet all quality, documentation, and regulatory requirements by performing detailed inspections, reviewing production records, and supporting continuous improvement activities across the manufacturing line. This role focuses on verifying proper equipment set-ups, reinforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices, and authorizing product release for shipment of conforming assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assembly line audits to verify proper equipment set-ups, the availability and use of calibrated tools, and adherence to approved work instructions.
  • Reinforce Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) with production personnel to maintain consistent quality and compliance.
  • Review each Device History Record (DHR) or production record for completeness, accuracy, and legibility, and ensure all records are properly filed or archived in accordance with Quality System requirements.
  • Execute product release by performing independent final inspections, completing required sign-offs, and executing system transactions to authorize shipment of conforming assemblies.
  • Evaluate nonconforming material, coordinate disposition activities, and document investigations and dispositions in line with Quality System requirements.
  • Participate in assembly line validations by collecting objective evidence, documenting results, and supporting the approval process.
  • Maintain operator training records and verify that personnel are qualified and appropriately trained before they perform assembly tasks.
  • Issue quality alerts to production personnel in response to complaints and nonconformances to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Document process deviations and in-process changes and route them for applicable approvals as required by the Quality System.
  • Identify and communicate work instruction and process gaps, providing clear information to support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Support evaluation and documentation of rework for assemblies, including product returns, in compliance with Quality System requirements.
  • Perform inspections on sheet metal components and assemblies, including first article inspections, using appropriate measurement tools.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement instruments to verify that parts and assemblies meet specified requirements.
  • Apply intermediate-level Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles during inspection and record accurate measurement data.
  • Work with Material Review Board (MRB) processes and nonconformance management systems to ensure timely and accurate resolution of quality issues.
  • Enter, review, and maintain inspection and quality data in electronic ERP systems and inspection management systems, ensuring data integrity.

Essential Skills

  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in device assembly or a similar production setting.
  • Hands-on experience conducting inspections in a production environment, including first article inspections.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficient use of measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Experience working with sheet metal components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of Material Review Board (MRB) processes and nonconformance management.
  • Intermediate-level understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and experience reviewing production records or Device History Records (DHRs).
  • Ability to reinforce and support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) on the production floor.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel for communication, data entry, and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify, document, and communicate quality issues clearly.
  • Ability to maintain accurate training and quality documentation in alignment with Quality System requirements.

  • Broad understanding of materials, manufacturing technologies, and production processes.
  • Experience working with electronic ERP systems for managing production and quality data.
  • Familiarity with inspection management systems for recording and tracking inspection results.
  • Experience documenting process deviations, in-process changes, and quality alerts.
  • Experience in supporting line validations, including collection of objective evidence and documentation of results.
  • Ability to support evaluation and documentation of rework activities, including handling of product returns.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with production personnel and cross-functional teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify process gaps and contribute to quality and process enhancements.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in a manufacturing and assembly environment that follows a formal Quality System and emphasizes Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP). The Quality Inspector works closely with production lines, frequently interacting with operators and using calibrated measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to perform inspections on sheet metal components and assemblies. Work involves regular use of computers and electronic systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, ERP platforms, and inspection management systems, to review and record production and quality data. The environment is structured and process-driven, with a strong focus on accurate documentation, adherence to approved work instructions, and compliance with validation and release procedures. Dress and personal protective equipment are typically aligned with standard manufacturing and quality inspection practices, supporting safe and consistent operations on the production floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
