Basic Purpose
Ensures the Gas Delivery business unit is in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and state regulatory commission regulations for the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of the natural gas and propane systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains plans for effective gas system emergency response to natural gas and propane emergencies in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policy/standards.
- Develops and maintains effective gas system operating and maintenance procedures and emergency manuals in compliance with all federal and state regulations and company policy/standards.
- Manages and maintains the Transmission and Distribution Integrity Management Plans to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations and company policy/standards.
- Acts as liaison between the company and state regulatory commission on gas-related compliance issues.
- Creates and submits reports to the Department of Transportation and state regulatory commission as required per federal and state regulations and company policy/standards.
- Develops and distributes reports to internal stakeholders demonstrating compliance with all federal and state regulations and company policy/standards.
- Provides technical support for construction, operational, and engineering personnel on gas-related regulations and compliance.
- Manages and leverages our relationship with the American Gas Association.
- Audits and provides training to operating areas to ensure operations and maintenance is performed to the applicable codes and that proper records are kept.
- Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited school and 3 - 5 years of related experience.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelors degree must have 7 years of related work experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Requires working knowledge of Department of Transportation and state regulatory commission regulations governing the transmission and distribution of natural gas, of gas system emergency response planning, procedures and incident investigation, of gas system construction, operation, and maintenance standards and work practices, of basic engineering practices and principles as they apply to gas distribution systems. Proven analytical, written, oral, and organizational abilities.

PCs, word processing, project, flow charting, spreadsheet, mapping, and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. Occasional travel or field site visits may be required. No special physical demands required.
