What does this role look like?
As an ATLO (Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations) Mechanical Test Engineer on the Orion program, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of mechanical integration activities for the Orion spacecraft for Artemis III, IV, and future missions.In this role you will have the following daily key responsibilities:
Mastering and maintaining proper test conduct and test processesObtaining Certified Test Conductor certification
Learning and understanding the Orion spacecraft assembly, integration and test flow and the associated processes including test execution, anomaly resolution, and paper closure.
Responsibilities will include:
o Understanding test requirements & objectives
o Defining the test implementation approach
o Writing and releasing test procedures
o Coordinating usage of facility resources, test tooling and ground support equipment
o Using test instrumentation & data acquisition systems
o Interfacing with both internal and NASA customers
o Executing floor operations and tests
The work will involve acceptance testing, environmental testing and ground servicing of flight hardware (including fluids & pneumatic systems, mechanical structures and mechanisms) at the assembly, subsystem and spacecraft level of assembly.
Test activities will primarily take place at Kennedy Space Center, but the position will be required to support test efforts at other locations for periods of time.
Periodic off-shift and weekend work will be required.
This position does not support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility one of the Coolest places to work: Space Coast, FL , and be expected to work in the office.

Qualifications:
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics and test specifications for testing of aerospace hardware.
Willing to work extended hours, including second/third shifts and weekends, in support of test activities.
This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
