Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting the Quality Assurance Manager in the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and continual improvement of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). Operating in a dynamic shipyard environment, this position involves assisting with ISO compliance activities, facilitating continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring that documentation, processes, and records adhere to industry standards and internal policies. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to reinforce a culture of quality excellence and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  1. QMS Support and ISO Compliance
    • Assist the QA Manager in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO 9001 and other relevant standards.
    • Coordinate internal audits, prepare required documentation, and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
    • Identification, preparation, logging, tracking, and revision of NCRs, CARs, and OFIs, including follow-up on corrective actions to closure
    • Support the scheduling and preparation for external ISO audits, including the compilation of audit findings and corrective action plans.
  2. Continuous Improvement Initiatives
    • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and process enhancements in collaboration with the QA Manager and other departments.
    • Contribute to Lean, Six Sigma, or other improvement projects, collecting and analyzing data to track progress and outcomes.
    • Help facilitate cross-departmental workshops aimed at identifying process bottlenecks and proposing practical solutions.
  3. Documentation and Change Control
    • Update and maintain quality documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality manuals, under the guidance of the QA Manager.
    • Assist in controlling document revisions and ensuring changes are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
    • Monitor adherence to established change control processes to maintain consistency and compliance.
  4. Data Analysis and Reporting
    • Gather and interpret quality metrics (e.g., defect rates, rework times, audit findings) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Generate periodic reports and presentations for the QA Manager, highlighting key performance indicators and recommending corrective actions.
    • Support the QA Manager in researching and implementing best practices and new technologies that strengthen the QMS.
  5. Training and Employee Engagement
    • Coordinate training sessions and workshops on quality standards, procedures, and continuous improvement methodologies, as directed by the QA Manager.
    • Help develop training materials that reinforce ISO requirements, safety protocols, and process improvements.
    • Promote a culture of quality by actively engaging with staff across various departments and gathering feedback for ongoing enhancements.
  6. Supplier and Stakeholder Quality Assurance
    • Collaborate with the QA Manager to monitor supplier performance and adherence to quality standards.
    • Assist in conducting supplier audits and evaluations, following up on corrective and preventive actions as needed.
    • Help maintain clear communication channels with suppliers, ensuring alignment with the company’s quality objectives.
  7. Regulatory Compliance and Safety
    • Support the QA Manager in ensuring that all quality and safety regulations are met, including compliance with relevant marine industry standards.
    • Participate in risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures to uphold high safety and quality performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a quality or compliance-related role, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or shipyard environment.
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 and other relevant standards; familiarity with ISO 14001 is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Some travel may be required for supplier visits or additional company locations.
