A metal packaging company in Toledo, OH is looking to add a Temporary Quality Control Tech to work in their Quality Lab. The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing inspection, testing, and documentation activities associated with food-grade metal coil coating operations.
Position is 3rd shift (11p - 7a) with a pay rate of $24.72
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting directly to manufacturing floor supervision and management, the Quality Control Technician responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:Ø Performs routine inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process components and finished products.Ø Tests products to ensure product is running within spec in the manufacturing process and reports issues and concerns to the appropriate departments and individualsØ Conduct coating performance tests including, but not limited to:Dry film thickness (DFT)Adhesion and flexibility testsCure verification testsVisual appearance and surface defect inspectionsØ Monitor manufacturing or operational processes to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Ensures all equipment, guards and safety devices are in place at all time, and follows safe work procedures and safety rulesØ Record and analyze test results; maintain accurate documentation and reports.Ø Maintain traceability of materials, test results, and production lots.Ø Identify defects or deviations and communicate findings to supervisors and production team.Ø Work with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.Ø Assist in investigating quality issues and implementing corrective actions.Ø Support standard work, procedures, and quality training initiatives.Ø Interact and report to the Quality Manager in the creation and revision of SOP’s as changes and additions requireØ Keeps work areas clean, safe and organizedØ Utilize check sheets and graphs to track causes for production problems, statistical process control requirements and spoilage concernsØ Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:Minimum Requirements:Ø Previous experience in a manufacturing environment specifically related to quality assurance or production controlØ Previous experience in keeping accurate records, the ability to analyze data and draw conclusionsØ Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at the same timeØ Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional supportPreferred Requirements:Ø High School Education/GED or equivalentØ Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean ManufacturingCompetencies:Ø Strong problem-solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approachØ Ability to work independently or with a teamØ Must be able to look at new solutions and “think creatively and strategically” to solve problemsØ Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.Ø Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate peopleØ Excellent time management and project management skills as well as the ability to multi-taskØ Excellent oral and written communication skillsØ Math and computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)Ø Ability to read and interpret specifications and work instructions.Ø Ability to perform inspections and measurements using standard quality tools.
Physical Requirements: Ø While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlØ The associate may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasionØ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focusØ The employee must be able to work up to twelve (12) hours shifts, both day and evening.Ø Comply with all safety rules, PPE requirements, and plant policies.Ø Perform duties in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
Working Conditions: Ø The majority of work will be in a plant environment but may be required to move around to different parts of the manufacturing floorØ While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic in the plantØ The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperaturesØ The noise level is frequently loud
