PURPOSE:

The function of the Quality Engineer is to perform a variety of engineering assignments with key stakeholders designed to facilitate the control and improvement of product quality.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education

High School diploma or GED required; vocational school equivalent acceptable

Degree from an accredited engineering program or related 4-year degree required

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of relevant, practical experience, preferably in a high-precision CNC and/or assembly environment

Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified facility

Experience participating in or leading multidisciplinary teams in problem-solving projects using root cause analysis (RCA) tools and developing effective corrective actions

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Strong communication and active listening skills with internal teams, external suppliers, and subcontractors

Ability to write technical reports and business correspondence

Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills

Proficiency in advanced mathematics and statistics

Basic computer literacy and ability to use standard business and quality systems

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles

Knowledge of process capability (Cp/Cpk)

Application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) for both incoming inspection (external suppliers) and internal manufacturing processes

Familiarity with Coordinate Measuring Equipment (CMM) and related technologies, including scanners, vision systems, and other standard metrology equipment

Understanding of precision machine shop production techniques and processes

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Knowledge of firearms is a plus

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Apply strong knowledge of quality systems to develop, maintain, and continuously improve processes and products, ensuring compliance with internal, customer, and ISO 9001 requirements while supporting annual business goals

Collaborate with design engineering, process engineering, manufacturing, sales, customer service, and purchasing teams to resolve issues related to customer complaints, product design, specifications, materials, tooling, and production quality

Develop and maintain quality control plans incorporating statistical process control, analysis, and reporting of results and trends

Maintain and improve the quality program to ensure conformity of purchased materials and components

Manage supplier quality assurance qualification, evaluation, and ongoing performance monitoring

Partner with engineering teams to establish quality procedures and guidelines for new products

Review existing products and develop or update quality assurance procedures and related documentation

Establish and maintain inspection criteria, inspection reports, and inspection procedures

Implement quality assurance procedures during pre-production and production startup phases

Work closely with production supervisors to communicate and enforce quality requirements

Prepare reports and maintain accurate quality records and documentation

Conduct internal audits and prepare audit reports

Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by leadership
