Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for adherence to the Cardinal Rules of Safety.
  • Read and interpret inspection procedures, blueprints, engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications and apply requirements in sheet metal inspection activities.
  • Select and use measurement gages to verify quality characteristics, both variables and attributes, and evaluate results to determine conformance to drawing/blueprint specifications.
  • Lead efforts to assist teams with assigned inspection and measurement activities on the sheet metal fab production floor to support problem identification, containment, and resolution.
  • Interpret component blueprints/drawings and apply requirements in First Article Inspection (FAI) and any assigned PPAP sample inspection activities.
  • Complete assigned inspection tasks that include continuous and/or lot-by-lot sampling inspection, random part sampling audits, First Piece Inspection (FPI).
  • Escalate, alert rapidly any Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) miss, nonconformances and observed quality issues to operators, leads, supervisors, managers.
  • Provide adequate support to operations in necessary sorting, inspection, containment, and segregation of non-conforming material from production inventory.
  • Actively document and update actions on quality issues with supporting documentation and feedback.
  • Support and actively participate in Quality Management System (QMS) audit activities as and when required.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma required with Quality inspection work experience in fabrication, sheet metal manufacturing operations.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • N/A
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Basic HS math knowledge/skills, comfortable with numbers, data.
    • Demonstrated understanding, knowledge and proven experience in performing measurement, in-process quality inspection of fabricated sheet metal parts.
    • Proven experience in the use and application of measurement gages/instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, other quality inspection and measurement instruments.
    • Problem solving aptitude, knowledge in FAI, FPI, ISIR, and blueprint reading.
