SUMMARY
Responsible for identifying and reducing scrap in the foundry and factory, operating test and measuring equipment in the quality lab, providing quality guidance to the factory and foundry supervisors and other duties as assigned. It is essential the following duties and responsibilities have a People First approach as “This Company Runs on People”.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Foundry:
- Operate the OES spectrometer and provide input to the foundry on necessary additions to the furnace.
- Track process improvements through the foundry and machine shop.
- Perform fracture analysis on defective castings to determine the root cause of the defect.
- Assist foundry supervisors with identifying types of casting defects properly and determine if castings are acceptable.
- Evaluate grind requirements and identify ways to improve or reduce grind times.
- Identify opportunities to reduce scrap and other cost savings.
- Evaluate foundry processes (core making, molding, pouring, etc.) to identify areas that need better training and assist with that training when needed.
Factory:
- Train people in various capacities on how to use the statistical process control (SPC) software to aid and ensure the manufacturing of quality parts.
- Operate the CMM and other measuring equipment in the quality lab to aid in checking production parts.
- Provide quality instructions and guidance to the factory supervisors when manufacturing issues arise.
- Perform SPC measurements and entries to assist operators in the manufacturing of high-quality parts.
- Coordinate non-conforming material and assist with rework when needed.
- Identify opportunities to reduce scrap.
- Troubleshoot issues with electronic leak testers.
Other:
- Prioritizes a people-first approach while maintaining efficiency and accuracy

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
