Job DetailsJob Location: CMC QC - Columbia - Columbia, MOPosition Type: Full TimeCapital Materials is looking to fill a Senior Asphalt/Concrete Quality Control Technician position in the Columbia, MO area. The Senior Quality Control Technician will guide the team in performing inspections, checks, and tests for quality of the material to be utilized in the manufacturing of asphalt, ensuring product quality and compliance with applicable specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides verbal and/or written tests results and reports to the QC Manager and staff.
Enforce quality control and company safety policies on all aspects of the work
Cut core samples from roadway and test in a timely manner
Conduct tests on aggregate and asphalt
Perform mathematical calculations to verify physical and volumetric properties
Communicate daily with QC Technician/Manager and the Roadway Technician
Calculate pay factors and tonnage totals on daily lab reports
Responsible for set up, adjustment and operation of laboratory/testing equipment.
Work around industrial equipment and machinery to obtain materials samples.
Record test results in a timely manner.
Report and communicate test results internally and externally (DOT and other customers as required).
Clean, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. Inspect stockpiles for proper construction; inspect haul units for cleanliness; Maintain test data files; assist in investigating and resolving customer technical problems.
Demonstrate knowledge of, or the ability to learn, safety rules and equipment including identification of precautions for and emergency response to chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards, and asphyxiating, toxic and explosive gases and vapors.
Demonstrate good workmanship in a neat and timely manner.
Work in a variety of positions throughout the day including standing, stooping, bending at the waist, at waist level, shoulder height and above the head. The job location is in all areas as required in our geographical work area.
The employee will work primarily outdoors, exposed to inclement weather, and in the proximity of chemical, electrical and mechanical hazards

QUALIFICATIONS
5 years of previous QC experience in a similar setting
Strong leadership skills
Must be punctual, have a strong work ethic, and maintain a good attendance record
Must be able to work as a team on all projects
Proven track record of completing jobs while meeting all safety/budget/schedule goals.
Maintain a flexible work schedule allowing for travel to different facilities
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
