At our South Milwaukee facility, youll support the production of some of the largest and most powerful mining machines in the world. This site specializes in the manufacture of Cat Electric Rope Shovels (ERS) used in mining operations globally, leveraging advanced welding and fabrication technologies.

Job Summary

As a Quality Inspector , youll play a critical role in developing, supporting, and optimizing welding processes used in the manufacture of Caterpillars large welded structures. Youll apply advanced welding technologies, support production teams, and ensure tooling, equipment, and processes meet Caterpillars high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing processes for welding metal parts in required configurations
  • Support and oversee welding operations using both manual and automated welding systems
  • Analyze welding defects and determine root cause using appropriate inspection tools and technologies
  • Ensure welding processes comply with engineering specifications and quality assurance standards
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve weld quality, efficiency, and throughput
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding processes, tooling, and automation

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting welding or fabrication processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of welding principles, metal fabrication, and production systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex welding and production issues
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and manufacturing safety practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • Experience with robotic welding systems (ABB, Fanuc, Kawasaki)
  • Offline robotic programming experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and standard business applications
  • Experience supporting high-mix, complex welded structures

Summary Pay Range:

$26.89 - $29.14
