Job Purpose

Supervise quality personnel engaged in inspecting materials, tools, work pieces, assembled products for conformance to specifications including activities to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervises and schedules the Quality Inspectors to ensure the appropriate coverage and conformance to requirements at all manufacturing work cells and processes.
  • Gives guidance, direction, and support to the Quality Inspectors.
  • Ensures that the Quality Inspectors are cross-trained and able to perform product inspection and gaging on any part at all work cells.
  • Verifies that the Quality Inspectors are aware of and correctly performing their required duties and documentation requirements.
  • Manages the shop-floor conformance to the control of nonconforming material process.
  • Plans for Quality Inspector coverage on a 24 hour / 7 day operation, on an as needed basis.
  • Initiates containment and short-term corrective actions promptly upon the notification of an internal or external customer concern
  • Performs layered process audits as scheduled.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Working familiarity with basic metrology, APQP, DCP, SPC, QOS, and problem-solving techniques
  • 3+ years as Quality Team Lead or Supervisor
  • Conduct control plan audits and report results of same.
  • Effectively supervise hourly subordinates in a union environment.
  • UAW experience
  • Strong communication Skills
  • Demonstrate an extrusion, welding and machining background.
  • Must possess strong technical writing skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Report quality assurance data and information such as MRB or other information as defined by management.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all quality assurance work areas.
  • Investigate, analyze and report manufacturing quality problems that occur both internally and externally (customer locations).
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained and procedures are followed.
  • Assist manufacturing in problem solving activities as required.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by management
