Supplier Development Engineer
Job Description

The role of a Supplier Development Engineer involves applying engineering theory and principles to enhance industrial layouts and manufacturing production processes. The successful candidate will possess the ability to create engineering drawings and interpret blueprints effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Study time motion methods and analyze speed involved in maintenance production and other operations to establish standard production rates and enhance efficiency.
  • Review worker logs, product processing sheets, and specification sheets to ensure compliance with quality assurance specifications.
  • Approve work assignments based on worker performance, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delays.
  • Analyze charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.
  • Evaluate data and reports to validate or identify deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within equipment capability limits.
  • Suggest revisions to methods of operation, material handling, equipment layout, or other changes to increase production or improve standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Heavily involved in APQP and process changes.
  • Experience working with customers to implement lean activities.
  • Capability to manage a set group of 20-30 suppliers.
  • Experience auditing existing suppliers.
  • Ability to interact with upper management in a polished manner.
  • ASQ certification is desirable.
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is a nice-to-have skill.
Work Environment

The work environment requires strong communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers. The role involves interaction with upper management and managing a group of 20-30 suppliers. This position is not entry-level; candidates should have significant experience in manufacturing and working with suppliers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
