VSC Fire & Security in Mobile, Alabama is seeking candidates for the position of Construction Quality Control Specialist for a project in Bay Minette, Alabama.

What you need:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in construction or industrial quality control, with hands-on experience in inspection and testing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education or certification in Quality Control, Construction Technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Understanding of construction/industrial quality standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Proficient in using inspection and testing tools, as well as software for documentation and reporting.
  • Desired (but not required):
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or equivalent industry certifications. Current EHS training designation such as OSHA 30-hour training for construction safety or equivalent work experience.

What you will do:

  • Conduct routine inspections and assessments of construction and/or industrial activities, materials, and workmanship to verify compliance with quality plans and specifications.
  • Perform field tests, such as concrete testing, welding inspections, and equipment verifications, as required by project standards and client expectations.
  • Document and photograph findings from field inspections, maintaining thorough and accurate records.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformance issues or deviations from project requirements, codes, and standards.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and project teams to address and resolve non-conformance issues in a timely manner.
  • Track the progress and completion of corrective actions to ensure lasting quality solutions.
  • Prepare detailed quality control reports and inspection summaries for submission to the Quality Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of quality activities, including inspection forms, test results, and non-conformance reports.
  • Communicate effectively with the Quality Manager, project teams, and subcontractors on quality issues, findings, and corrective measures.
  • Assist in implementing quality control procedures and protocols on the job site to promote adherence to the quality management plan.
  • Support project teams in understanding quality standards, client specifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Provide guidance to field personnel on best practices for maintaining quality throughout each phase.
  • Ensure that quality control activities align with all safety and environmental standards, working closely with HSE teams to promote a safe working environment.
  • Identify any potential safety risks associated with quality issues and report them promptly to site supervisors and the HSE team.
  • Maintain excellent communication skills for effective coordination with field teams and management.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and providing practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently in field conditions and handle multiple tasks effectively.

This role is designated as safety-sensitive due to responsibilities that could entail the use of motor vehicles, mobile equipment, working at heights, climbing ladders, and utilizing lift equipment.
