YOU

As an Associate Quality Control Technician, you will work in the Quality Control lab performing routine tests on chemical and non-chemical products purchased, manufactured, and raw materials. You will be responsible for performing quality inspections and testing. Perform audits of the manufacturing process with attention to detail and safety. All testing and audit data gathered will be entered and tracked within databases. Accountable and responsible for analyzing test data, analytical testing validation/verification and/or transfer of test methods supporting company products. Perform routine Quality Audits of the Quality System, manufacturing process, and facility. You will work a MondayFriday schedule from 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.

WHAT YOULL BE DOING (% of Time)

Sample and perform chemical, functional, and dimensional quality tests on a variety of purchased and manufactured raw / bulk materials and finished products. Routine testing using such instruments as and FTIR, viscometer, tensile / compression test equipment, and colorimeters. Dimensional testing using calipers and micrometers, manually and automated. Various chemical and physical testing on epoxies, acrylics, cementitious materials, and carbon/glass fiber as well as wet chemistry tasks such as titrations and dilutions. (50%)

Collect, enter, and maintain test data in the various databases utilized by the department. (20%)

Performs Line Checks / Releases and supports Production activities by evaluating product quality issues and providing feedback (20%)

Work on other Quality-related tasks and projects while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Safe handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and materials. Use of Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, face shields, masks, task-specific gloves, and safety shoes. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, youve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Post-secondary education or training preferred.
  • 2 years experience in an industrial processing or manufacturing environment. A combination of education and experience may satisfy this requirement.
  • Ability to build and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to calculate figures, conversions, and amounts such as proportion, percentage, ratio, area, volume, circumference.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common industry standards, test methods, material & product specifications, work instructions, and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently using e-mails, shift logs, and messaging as appropriate.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs).
  • The ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint to carry out work.
  • Experience with SAP or similar Inventory Management System, MS SharePoint, WinSPC, and Smartsheet is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, fumes and/or noxious odors, toxic/caustic chemicals, dust, loud noise levels and moving mechanical parts.

TRAVEL

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 5% of the time.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, non-exempt position is in West Chicago IL.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

Pay

$20.48 - $30.72 / hour
