We're currently seeking a highly motivated Baggage Inspector located in Seattle, WA .
Required Education:
- High School Diploma
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
- Minimum of five years of experience in equipment for complex warehousing, package handling, shipping or baggage handling facilities preferably in airport settings.
- General building inspection background with emphasis on the interoperability of mechanical (conveyor systems), electrical, and control systems within large building spaces.
- Requires familiarity with wall and ceiling construction and the placement of MEP systems within walls and above ceilings.
- Must be able to pass TSA security and background check to obtain unescorted badging.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be adept at conflict avoidance or abatement.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and inspect the work of contractors to ensure proper construction methods are utilized- Review plans, specifications, submittals, drawings, change orders and Requests for Information for requirements of the construction contract to be applied in the field
- Prepare and maintain documentation including inspection logs, daily reports, force accounts, materials testing, and other construction records
- Draft Construction Weekly Progress Reports (CWPR) for review and distribution by the Resident Engineer
- Prepare and maintain digital photographic documentation of assigned projects
- Take or Verify field measurements/quantities for contract payments
- Identify construction issues and problems and recommend potential solutions
- Participate in the review of initial project designs before plans are finalized and put out for bid- Assist with bid quantity take-offs
- Coordinate material deliveries and delivery logistics including time of day and proper delivery routes
- Participate in managing and inspecting project punch list and cover inspections and provide status reports on completion progress
- Monitor change order work in the field and sign off on force account work tickets- Escort consultants, contractors, and visitors to project sites
- Attend off-site testing and inspections as needed (travel will be required)
- Participate in cost review, negotiating, and finalization of the Maximum Allowable Construction Costs (MACC) and any mini-MACCs
- Inspect project site conditions and ensure contractors utilize and maintain Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control (TESC) best practices according to the standards of each project; report any TESC or environment-related issues
- Update design plans/drawings based on changes that occur during actual construction; document reasons for change; and ensure drawings are an accurate representation of work performed
- Identify, document, and track closure of contractor work that is out of compliance or deficient Initiates Noncompliance Reports for action by the Resident Engineer
- Witness special inspections, testing (on or off-site) of contract material, equipment, and installations
- Participate with or lead coordination efforts between outside consultant inspection agencies (special inspection & testing, environmental, hazardous materials) and contractors; Verify/ evaluate consultant invoices and provide recommendations for payment
- Coordinate routine shutdown requests from contractors with customers, tenants, and the Port department, which includes notification to all interested parties and obtaining required approvals/signatures; Issue CAFs- Constructability review
Salary:
- $45.00 - $55.00/hour
Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
