Job Description

As a Quality Control Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products. You will assist the Sheeter Operator and other team members as needed, verify and maintain records for incoming and outgoing products, and conduct tasks in accordance with safety protocols. Your responsibilities will include collecting and testing samples, recording and comparing results, and maintaining organized and accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Sheeter Operator and other team members as necessary.
  • Verify and maintain records for incoming and outgoing products.
  • Conduct tasks safely, following proper work procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area free of safety hazards.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear required safety equipment.
  • Collect representative samples from all lots of incoming materials.
  • Test samples using prescribed techniques and checklists.
  • Record and compare test results with specifications for each grade.
  • Maintain test samples and accurate records, ensuring data and samples can be located as necessary.
  • Collect representative samples from start-ups and end-of-rolls from laminators and printers.
  • Perform visual analysis of samples to detect defects.
  • Conduct and record in-process test results, including caliper, smoothness, and gloss tests.
  • Monitor trends and shifts in work-in-process test results, run-to-run, and within-run variability.
  • Inform supervisor of questionable materials and test results.
  • Notify supervisor immediately of suspected test equipment issues.
  • Empty baler as needed.
  • Calibrate quality control equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment and remain focused during slower periods.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team, supporting co-workers.
  • Understanding of product quality requirements and the role in ensuring quality.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of weight measurement and volume.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with computer concepts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or up to one year of related experience or training.
  • Ability to understand and follow operating and job procedures.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and overtime.
  • Troubleshooting skills in a laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
  • Chemistry and quality assurance skills.
Work Environment

This position operates on the second shift, from 4 pm to 12 am, with two weeks of training on the first shift from 7 am to 3 pm. The work environment involves proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to electrical shock risks, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is typically loud. This role may involve handling hazardous waste, requiring annual mandatory training in hazardous waste management procedures relevant to the position.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
