Under general direction of the Quality Superintendent, the Quality Control Technician coordinates the implementation of quality standards and systems, monitors to ensure standards are being met, improves systems, helps with troubleshooting problems, ensures compliance with both internal (regional, national managers) and external (industry codes, local, state, and federal regulations) customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Comply with Westlake Royal Safety Policies and Procedures
- Utilizes systems methodology to conduct business activities
- Follow standards established to carry out troubleshooting, testing, calibration, organization, and project management
- Reports all product exceptions as per non-conforming materials procedures
- Performs inspections of WIP and Finished Goods throughout the shift
- Conducts monthly audits to ensure accuracy
- All other duties as assigned
- Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, standard work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and company manuals and procedures
- Demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
- Good communication skills and ability to read, speak, write English (bilingual Spanish helpful)
- Ability to observe, identify, deduce, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
- Quick learner and ability to work under minimal supervision
- Math skills and computer skills
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade
- 1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
- Prolong standing or in stationary position
- Complete repetitive movements
- Bend and/or twist
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, safety shoes, and hardhat protection)
