Position Summary
The Test Architect & Automation Engineer is responsible for designing efficient solutions to allow the organization to automate its processes and address testing problems that present business-related challenges. They will work with company leadership, department stakeholders, and the IT department to define testing requirements, identify holes in the automation progress, and ensure the quality of the final product.
In this role, you will be a hands-on individual contributor in Embedded Engineering reporting to the Sr. Principal Solution Architect.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop test equipment for controls, including wireless networking.
- Identify and develop tools to improve and optimize product quality.
- Enhance productivity through automation, including developing simulation testing solutions such as fryer and oven simulators.
- Collaborate with embedded circuits during product development.
- Test, tune, and optimize controllers.
- Support design for manufacturability and testability of existing and new designs.
- Collaborate with the development team on new product designs.
- Create and execute test plans and generate comprehensive test reports.
- Complete additional duties and projects assigned.
- Report directly to the Senior Principal Solution Architect.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of appliance controls and control systems.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in relevant roles.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics.
- Experience with embedded software programming (e.g., C, C++, Python).
- Skilled in utilizing programming knowledge in various development environments.
- Familiarity with tools for testing, debugging, and verifying software and hardware designs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues.
- Experience in writing test programs and developing test procedures for new designs.
- Solid understanding of quality development practices, including product and code design, and engineering techniques.
- Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong analytical and debugging abilities.
- Experience with wireless technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
