Sutton Contracting is looking for candidates with a strong interest and aptitude in residential construction. The ideal applicant must be hard-working, self-motivated, reliable, and capable of maintaining a positive attitude. This position supports the project management and estimating team in the development of conceptual estimates, plan and specification-based estimates, and subcontractor costs. They develop estimates for all the construction manager’s self-performed work including house wrap, siding, taping, building specialties, carpentry, millwork, and other finishes. Responsible for the development of subcontractor and supplier scopes of work and monitoring the subcontractor pricing with the architectural and engineering drawings and specifications. Job duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Primary office location will be in Brandon, FL
  • Specific duties of a Safety and Quality Control Manager
    • Developing and executing health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
    • Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety
    • Evaluating practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
    • Enter standardized information into Safety and Quality Control reports
    • Perform routine and repetitive inspection procedures to ensure quality levels at various stages of production.
      • Traveling (driving) to job sites and offices required
    • Inspect in-process and/or finished installations for conformance to safety and quality assurance standards.
    • Read and follow visual aides, engineering drawings, or established operating procedures, determine acceptance or rejection of product.
    • Follow standardized and routine written directions and visual aides for assigned safety and quality assurance inspection operations.
    • Visually inspect installations
    • Enter standardized information into Safety reports
    • Enter standardized information into Quality Control reports
    • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by the supervisor.
    • Able to survey self-work scopes such as building specialties, carpentry, housewrap, siding, and some finishes
    • Proficiency in computer skills. Able to adapt and learn programs such as On-Screen Take-Off, AutoDesk Design Review, AutoDesk TrueView and Abode Acrobat
  • Understanding of subcontractor/supplier relationships to the ongoing success of Sutton Contracting
  • Maintain a standard level of professionalism among peers and clients
  • Must have a means of transportation to and from work
    • Drivers license required to drive Sutton Contracting work vehicles
    • Clean driving record

Job Requirements (Preferred)

  • Possess good communications skills and be detail-oriented
  • Computer software – AutoDesk Design Review, AutoDesk TrueView, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Ext.) and Abode Acrobat
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in project management, safety or quality control position on residential or commercial construction projects
  • A 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
  • OSHA or equivalent training/certifications
  • Follow all company processes and procedures
  • Create and maintain required efficiency standards throughout all processes
  • Accomplishes all responsibilities by effective planning and execution from all teammates within departments ensuring the utmost possible quality and safety
  • Follow all company processes and procedures
  • Maintain the required work hours
    • 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday thru Friday and occasional weekends
