Job Description

CAP Government, Inc. is seeking the immediate hire of licensed multi-disciplined and single-disciplined Plans Examiners and / or Inspectors in Sarasota, Manatee, Desoto, Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties who are highly motivated, detail-oriented, and team players. Primary duties will include performing plans review and / or inspections (as licensed - building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) on residential and commercial buildings for code compliance.  Duties may also include managing specific projects related to these types of disciplines for code compliance, and travel may be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area.  The positions are predominately field located but may occasionally include office assignments, whereas the Plan Examiners positions are primarily office-based.  Experience in the areas of pre-construction, residential construction, commerical construction, construction inspection, construction management, construction documentation, and as a general contractor is helpful in the position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan Review and/or Inspections for code compliance
  • Enforces all applicable provisions of the Florida Building Code as adopted by the state and amended by local ordinances.
  • Confers with government staff, architects, contractors, property owners, and the general public to explain and interpret code provisions and local building regulations as well as requirements as amended by local ordinances.
  • Prepare written and electronic reports, and issue notices of correction.
  • Travelers to construction sites and performs field inspections of new or existing buildings during various stages of construction as well as remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes.
  • Recognize, evaluate, and properly resolve unique problems or situations.
  • Assist the inspection management team with business development
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager

 

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Required State of Florida through DPBR as a Plan Reviewer (PX #) or Inspector (BN #) - Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing
  • Preferred but not required to have a State of Florida Plan Reviewer and/or Inspector certification in 1 & 2 Family Dwelling
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience performing plan review and/or inspections
  • High School diploma or equivalent education; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Valid State Driver’s license with clean driving record
